Via Galactica
« on: January 31, 2011, 02:19:51 pm »

Was searching for this the other day. It's basicly a space trading game similar to the classics like drugwars only alot more complex. Just posting a link here for others who like space trading games! It's my favorite one of the genre easily in depth and randomness, which gives alot of replayability.

I've tried it, but several of my games ended when a random "cosmic discontinuity" diverted me from my course and i guess the new destination was too far because I never had enough fuel to get there, and so it was game over.

So i never had the chance to try combat or to buy equipment or new ships, and this was on an "easy" setting.

I don't really like games where you can just randomly lose without being able to do anything about it.

Pussy.  :D

You obviously got unlucky. I've never had that! and the randomness is as fair as it is harsh.  Gives the universe a good tandomness replayability.

That sounds like the least fun thing ever.

Unfortunately, even if it's random, it still sucks. I don't want to invest a few hours into it and lose it all because of a random 'you lose' event. Losing can be a lot of fun... but not if the game just decides I need to lose for no apparent reason.

It sounds rather Fun. I mean, I've had games in DF where my wagon spawns right on a GCS. Oh, the horror.

Yeah, but that's actually Fun. Imagine starting DF, getting a bit of farming and digging going, then the screen goes black and says "There was an earthquake! You lose!"

Played a few tries, but random events keep fucking me up constantly. Losing half of my money to robbers during the first few days isn't that fun. I wish there were positive events too - now it is always chocolate rain. Dunno, I'm a roguelike masochist at heart, so guess I'll keep playing it now and then, but the negative random events should be toned down.
