The 1st Tank Regiment at Singapore seems to have just 1 working tank left. Trucks are all gone, but theres another tank, broken.

Dude, that's MY tank regiment!  Am I dead?

Or, am I bravely piloting the last remaining tank?

Or, more likely, am I cowering inside the wreckage of a mostly-working tank?

Since you're the commander, in command of a full Armoured Regiment, you do all the plans. You're also responsible for the loss of about 60 tanks. The Imperial Headquarters expects your regiment of 1 tank to conquer Singapore.  :)

i figured id find a good tutorial online which hasnt been the case :/

though thanks for your help, that part of the game for me is squared away now.

Now it figure out the ever so annoying intricacies of dealing with the chinese masses of 20k+ infantry  :'(

Your attack on the phillipines was quite fast, it seems. My attack on the phillipines is 2 months into the game and slowly grinding through it.

You can steal troops from the Kwantung Army. Thats what I did. Moved out 2 artillery regiments, 5 armour, and 5 full infantry divisions. Just keep the Manchuko Garrison AV value above 8000 and you're good, pay the political points for switching commands when you can to make the troops more effective(and let them replace casualties quicker in China).

That's absolutely hilarious.

Where did my BB end up, anyway? Kongo.

Kongo is now, with her sister ship Haruna, in Task Force 5 (Wake bombardment/bait/gambit) together with Yamashiro, Fuso and Huyga. Logic being, if using force doesn't work, you're clearly not using it enough.

February 12th

China: nothing new, except the Chinese Army flanking from the South bites dirt, hard, in its today's assault.

Burma: RTA Inf Div is almost at the front... And is bombed by Blenheims escorted by Hurricanes! Now Hurricane is a completely new sight, and 17 of them against 2 Zeroes patrolling in the area shoot one down. Massive CAP over the Thai forces ordered for tomorrow, and the Elite Zero pilots will sweep the airspace over Rangoon, hopefully nailing at least a couple of CAP Hurricanes/Hawks.

Kido Butai is now off Guam. Submarines sighted around Truk, so both KB and CVL Zuiho will go around it and approach from South East to hopefully avoid detection.

Wake re-invasion sets sail from Takao to Saipan, where it will pick up some troops. Battleship fleet and 2 separate cruiser forces also depart, one with the battleships for Guam, the other for Truk. I'm not planning to actually use the Kido Butai at Wake, but it will lurk in the vicinity, ready to sail in and hit HARD.

have been folowing the PzB vs Andy AAR at Matrix games and a huge element has been revealed to be the range advantage the Japaneese Carriers have.  8 hexes vs 7 for the US.

Yeah. PzB utterly slaughtered the Allied fleet. At least 3 CV, 3-4 CVE, 1 CVL, 5-6 BBs, about a dozen cruisers, 30-ish DDs and stunning number of transports and about 5,000 aircraft destroyed for Japanese loss of a dozen submarines, 5 or 6 destroyers and an old light cruiser. And Andy is going to lose even more as he tries to pull out from Waingapoe during the next 7-10 days...

In our game the D3A1 has full range 6/7, B5N1 and N2 7/9 and the American SBD-2 and 3 have 6/7 later models 7/8, first full load second extended range, reduced load(ie. no torpedoes for B5N).

D3A2 will have a shorter range so I'm not going to build them, at least not many, but the next dive bomber model D4Y in early 43 has nice 8/10 and the torpedo bomber B6N1 has 8/10 as well. The B5N2 (10/1943) has 10/12 and thats one huge advantage, provided they have the numbers and escorts to get through the Hellcat screen.

I'll post the Wake invasion/gambit operation plans today, once I've sorted out all the ships and units taking part. Possibly, possibly, will split up the KB, slow Kaga could go with Zuiho, Ryujo and Shoho, would be able to cover more sea doing that. Also need to bring some Zeroes to Kwajalein, the more the better, not for defense but they could provide protection for the carriers, esp. if they are divided.

Action should start in 10 days, that is about Saturday evening real life.

that battle between andy and pzb was ridiculous.

Seemed ridiculously random.

Imho just sum of all Andy's mistakes, PzB might have suffered 3 or 4 times the plane losses and sank 1 or 2 carriers less, but Allies not able to strike back, he would have lost. He kept his carriers in the same position for 3 days, while they were flying sorties... Not a great idea.

February 13th

China: In the North, the Japanese advance in 3 different spear heads, and Chinese suffer over 6,000 men lost today. In the South, they are now after taking Kiukian, sieging Nanchang, but I dont think it will fall any soon, and there are 3 full divisions and 2 regiments that will first re-capture Hanchow and then move to break Nanchang's siege - these numbers should be more than enough. The Chinese are falling back in the middle and North, some of their pocketed units have been destroyed to the last man, whole divisions.

Everywhere else: looks like its a counter attack day for the Allies, as they attack back in Mindanao, Sumatra, Borneo and Makassar, all counterattacks are stopped, swept down and pushed back with (Relatively) great casualties to the Allies. A Japanese armoured regiment has now bypassed the Dutch lines and cut couple of battalions off their supplies. In Burma, a Brit unit is trying to flank Moulmein but now meets the Thai forces...

Second battle of Wake Island, operational plans:

Looks good, without Wake, what's the next nearest island they can use as a staging ground?

How is my one-tank mega-offensive going?  Have I taken over Singapore yet?

Man, I could really use 26 more tanks!
