Hi guys,

I recently had to reformat my computer because of a virus invasion. Now, ever since I did this and installed SP2 and the Norton Internet Security suite, Dwarf Fortress has been really lagging badly.

For example, the Bay12 Games: Beyond Quality screen takes a good two minutes to completely appear. Also, I tried playing a bit on adventure mode and there seems to be a good second between when I pressed a key on my keyboard and when my character reacted.

I'm running on a Pentium IV, 2.66 MHz PC with 512 megs of RAM.

I really want to play this game again, but not at the cost of losing my security. Help me out please!

Have you tried updating all your graphics drivers since the reinstall?
They can cause problems like this.

Edit: wouldn't kill you to get another 512 RAM either, but I doubt that's your problem (since it wasn't one before.)
