They're small, almost chibi creatures, with no neck, and all of them have beards.  Even the women and children, and the children who are women.  they have stoic, leveled eyes, as if they're watching a particularly droll courtroom proceeding that isn't even going the way that they want.  They're all naked, and soaked in blood, sitting around like lumps (think of Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants) as they throw the worst parties imaginable, where they merely sit around on the floor, or tables, or sometimes even chairs, and look across the room at each other and somehow build up social skills.  They have a fondness for waterfalls and socks, often times sitting around their slowly-flooding dining room wearing their bloodsoaked socks, staring at the waterfall while on break, completely ignoring the coming siege and the pending work orders.

They are, truly, a miserable bunch of degenerates, who are stone-faced at all times, yet produce some of simply the most fantastic craftsdwarfship the world has ever seen, using nothing but a beard as coarse as shredded metal cable and a single silk sock.

Individually, they're standard dwarfs. Men have bears, women have an abundance of themselves (giggity) etc.

Culturally I'm getting a sort of Soviet / Half Life 2's Combine feel with mine. Everyone has a room of 2x2, enough to be satisfactory but nothing too decadent, and they're all arranged in neat little rows. Same with the workshops, to make sure everyone is (while perhaps not as efficient as possible), very neat and orderly. The communal dining area / meeting hall is huge, and there are plenty of communal statue gardens and zoos to keep the workers happy.

I'm going to try reflect this in the architecture as well. I'm going to rebuild the entire fortress out of Obsidian blocks (because how else to get that alien metal feel?) with steel furniture everywhere. Smooth and clean, to suit smooth and clean people (or else). I WOULD go the whole hog and make sure every non Noble or Military wears a blue pigtail jumpsuit, but if I do that I'm afraid one of my mechanics might go on a rampage...

no, dwarfs in DF are filthy, moronic and always stained with various containments, not to mention their heavy alcohol dependency and malapropos timed parties, stupid dodges, sarcastics arts etc. etc. never like the people in Drangon Age. IMO, Drangon Age dwarfs are more like dwarfed norman or vikingr.
