Lost in Blue was somewhat demanding. I still liked it for a while though. I think I prefer UnrealWorld to any other survival sim I've dealt with.

It's probably not what you're looking for, but there is an OLD game, probably early 80s or so. Called Visions of the Aftermath: Boomtown. It basically gave you randomly generated Post Apocalyptic worlds that you would spend your days travelling around, gathering supplies, looting buildings and fallout shelters and trying to build a new life for yourself. (In some game modes there was some diplomacy involved and you were encouraged to form alliances with other survivors.) Alas, I never got it to work completely right. A lot of the game was actually the manual though. While the game would give you very basic generalized things to work with, like "Food, water, fuel, parts, etc."  The manual was written as an actual survival manual would give you ideas of the things you could do with them. The only one I remember clearly was a detailed description of how to make an electric generator waterwheel out of an old car alternator. In game this could be done with some "parts" and I think maybe one other resource. But the manual gave you something to fill your mind with an imagine.

On the surface it was a really simple game, but could get very deep if you kept at it.

Also, it could be played, hotseat style, with up to 4 players.

I tell ya, my idea of a pre-history themed survival RPG where you pick your species and live in the middle of a dinosaur-filled simulated ecosystem would be the best damn survival game EVER.

Someone just needs to... make it for me... Please. :'(

I dont like stranded II, it just seems too grindey and simple. I've lost my UnrealWorld key so thats out of the question too!!! Shiffbruch was the one I was thinking of, but I can no longer find a working English link to it :(

There was an old game, called "Wolf" I think. You had to play as a wolf, you could join packs, you had to avoid hunters and find food. You used smell and hearing as the main senses. It was an awesome game.

P.S. Also there are tutorials. The recording is not good, but the tutorial is okay:

I don't know if Organ Trail counts.
Damn you people...  getting all up and bitten by zombies! Each and every one of you!  And you...  the person I aptly named "I"...  why'd you up and disappear on us?  No man woman or child left behind!  And there you go, messing all that up!
Well, that is one less mouth to feed...

After reading about Stranded II on here, I decided to check it out last night.. I sunk about 3 hours into it, since, like a previous poster observed, it is a bit grindy.  Still fun though and I guess there are mods out for it.

If you want, you can grab my Island Quest mod for Stranded. It expands crafting and adds a big island with different biomes.
