Stranded II is so fucking surreal.
I don't see how raptors and lions chasing you around on a island is surreal but ok :P

In seriousness though the game is pretty good on the basics of survival for requiring food/water and crafting materials. I remember some of the mods added hair growing ui and vomit/diarrhea effects from eating spoiled raw food.

Well, this is an old topic but i see some discussion about the Wilderness: A Survival Adventure.

I found this gem a week ago and i stumbled on every problem mentioned here about the different maps, the saved game restoring problem and how the game files seems like a global explorer edition, but the game acts like a sierra nevada, USA version.

Long story short, yesterday i became a little familiar with the dosbox debugger and here is the result: in the wild.exe change the 0003167A. byte from 02 to 00 and the game will become a Global Explorer Edition. You can create and play on any map and you can restore your saved game.

Ehm... i have find the game in my hd... tried to use a exe editor, (XVI32) but i don't find the 0003167A byte... can you explain me how to find?

Thanks for the links to some great games folks! Here's my review of one.

Stranded II

A fun little game, but the simplicity even on hard mode meant it got boring quickly. Fortunately, I found the modding community has come up with some fun improvements on this version.

Massive Mod: The Survivalist

This mod is a standalone version of Stranded II and builds greatly on the game and seriously ramps up the difficulty. I suggest playing Stranded II until you can reliably survive on hard mode, then try this mod on normal. I've stayed up past midnight two nights in a row with this mod now, and having a blast.

Under the Ocean is a promising looking title. It's available as an early access game on steam. I own it, but haven't played it much as I've been waiting for it to be developed a little more before I sink much time into it.

There are videos of the alpha update on their youtube channel if you want to check it out:
