--Wilderness: A Survival Adventure

Its controled throug text imput but its a closest as it gets to survival simulation--

This is a great game but i don't find the expansion disk.....  :O(

I mentioned it on second page. And the expansion disks are already in the game if you say please I'll tell you the secret to unlock them.

My english is bad...but please tell me the secret to unlock the data disk....i want to play this rare gem in another zone....

Ok, all the necessary files are in the game folder.
You have to delete the SIERRAS.CIM and rename the BOLIVIA.CIM or BURMA.CIM or NEWGUIN.CIM or BRCOLUM.CIM to SIERRAS.CIM. After choosing to make a new topomap, it will still give you only the option to chose sierra nevada but it will actually make the country you renamed as SIERRAS.CIM. (When making a topomap there should be the real name in the lower left corner.) Enjoy.

Amazing, I thought they were in there, but I could never figure out how to use them. Thanks.

Go ahead. And you don't have to reinstall it, my mod comes with the exe.

P.S. And for once, pay attention to your own channel :D.
I've played stranded II (vanilla) quite a bit, but I must be missing something in your mod.  I start, something invisible starts hitting me, I die 1 min later, looking at a sandy beach.  What am I doing wrong?

EDIT LOL nevermind.  I forgot that in SII, full meters can be good or bad, depending on which meter they are.
It's a "feature". You are sleepy as hell, so you have to sleep in the beginning.
This way some time passes and many stuff is generated (like jungle, or some fruit drops). I use a lot of randomly generated stuff.

Also make sure you pick up the stuff on the shore, in crates and underwater. I am not sure if it's possible for a sane person to "play" it without starting tools.
If your playing endless, I don't think you get starting gear.

ok, but is impossible to restore a saved game or a saved map

i think, a this point, the trick is in the installing the game and maybe in the config.dat file....

the config only has the number 1 in it. i assume it refers to the sierras map being number 1 with other going to 6 as the game exe shows the map names with a 1 though 6 in front of the names in a hex view, i tried a buch of diffrent combos in the dat file with no luck even as just replacing the 1 with say a 2, now what i think the trick is going to be is the gme file. when ya open it with a hex editor in it you can see where it says its the global explorer edition and it has alot of the same discriptions the wild exe has in it. so i think that it is the main disk image but ive not been able to find a way to mount it or access it from the game. if we can make the game auto look for the gme file in the right place it might work right. what we need is someone that can program in basic to go in and reset it so it can auto load the disks from the main dir.. it seems from the file structure that its all there we just cant get it to work together. anyone got a thought or know someone that would spend a little time going in and fixing up this wonderful game for us?

Tried it for about 15 minutes. I'd hardly call that a survival sim. Can't take two steps without stumbling over bananas and coconuts to eat. Bears just sit there and let you walk up and spear them, paying no attention to you. Good thing I guess, since I can't walk far without finding dozens of bears all over the place - if they were aggressive you wouldn't survive long. Fish are the same - just sit there while you swim up and spear them.
Basically all survival requires is to walk around drag bananas to inventory, right click, eat. Repeat. The most advanced tasks are only ways to get better food that last longer, like cooked meat or fish - and the task of building fire serves only to cook food or slow health loss at night. The day/night cycle is ridiculously fast too - it became night, and by the time I finished making a fire it was day time. Then I walked a bit, ate a banana, and speared a fish and hey its night again.

The premise is great, but the game is severely lacking.

Too bad too, I'd love a more developed survival game like that. A game like this with different animals (as in, more than just bears and fish); FPS style combat with an injury system and the animals either fighting back or fleeing; a sane day/night cycle; and a more realistic food/hunger system could be a lot of fun. Throw in some sort of endgame content (village building or something) and you could have a real gem.

The prehistory survival concept reminds me of Sapiens on my very old cpc464.
If the developer can improve it to get at least as much to do as you could do in Sapiens, it could end to be very interesting.

edit : took by nostalgia i made a search about Sapiens and noticed there's a shareware PC remake of it apparently :

Why won't someone create a survival sandbox MMORPG? I could guarantee people would love it.

Haven and Hearth is. If you don't like that, or want something else, their next project Salem looks promising.

Well, this is an old topic but i see some discussion about the Wilderness: A Survival Adventure.

I found this gem a week ago and i stumbled on every problem mentioned here about the different maps, the saved game restoring problem and how the game files seems like a global explorer edition, but the game acts like a sierra nevada, USA version.

Long story short, yesterday i became a little familiar with the dosbox debugger and here is the result: in the wild.exe change the 0003167A. byte from 02 to 00 and the game will become a Global Explorer Edition. You can create and play on any map and you can restore your saved game.

Seeing this topic revived, I might as well mention that there's a Stranded 3 in the works. I don't recall it's progress, but it's moving.
