Alligator's effectiveness in combat?

How well would 3 alligators do in combat against... say a goblin ambush?

Probably not very well if the goblins have armor, although the grab-and-shake maneuver they do (and that all animals do, really) could work wonders.

You could always hop into arena mode, spawn some alligators and some armored and armed goblins (with some skill), and see what happens.
