Water buckets everywhere!
« on: January 29, 2011, 08:25:46 pm »

I know this has been asked a billion times before, but I can't find a forum with the answer again. I have a bunch of buckets lying around with 9 units of water in them from "give water" tasks. How do I get rid of them, short of magma? Preferably, I want to get the buckets back.

There may be a more efficient solution, but dumping those buckets and then reclaiming them worked for me.

CURSES! I dumped the buckets and they are still filled with water. I reclaimed them and the dwarves won't touch them.

Set up a dairy operation.  When a dwarf wants to milk an animal, and grabs a bucket with water in it, he'll dump the water out on the floor.  After the milk in the bucket gets transferred to a barrel, you'll have an empty bucket.

I guess I could do that. I usually alternate milk and make cheese at the same shop, but I'll try milking them all first.
