okay, so can we at least agree that the majority of men, and the majority of women, like to get laid, and alcohol certainly helps that process both ways? making Vector's scathing initial response way back on page 1, and overall negative attitude since then, a little bit uncalled for?
Not really, no. I'm not sure what made you come to this conclusion. She's against, inasfar as I can tell, stereotyping men and women, and sex. That's what happened. Fair enough. She was never against the fact that people like sex and that alcohol can help in getting sex.

I mean, I guess I could be wrong. I guess that maybe the majority of the population is asexual, and the media is just pushing this image of sexuality on everyone.

[...]

also, haha, I am a scientist!!! It says so, right on my degree! Leave the science to me! Haha, haha! Haha! Vector, it was pretty rude of you to generalize that I WASN'T a scientist.

My argument is that we should not forget the minority in our usual rhetoric, not that the majority of the population is asexual.  There is a significant difference.

My apologies for assuming you weren't a scientist.  I thought that all scientists were known for their precision and adherence to careful language, in an effort to transmit truth rather than lies.

I shall no longer hold that faulty assumption.

More likely, and I say this after many years of careful observation of course, is that asexuals are special snowflake cases, and as anyone who has taken a science lab can tell you: just because one test resulted in say, .01m travelled, but every other test resulted in 20m travelled, does not mean it is impossible to generalize the data set.

And yet we don't say that all (whatevers) travel .01m, do we?  We say that on average, (whatevers) travel .01m, but in some cases they travel 20m for unknown reasons.  We are careful with our language so that we do not risk transmitting error.

The other thing is that the prevalence is basically 1.5% for men, and higher for women.  That's a higher incidence than schizophrenia, autism, and genius IQ--and Muslims in the United States.

I wouldn't call this subset of humanity "special snowflakes."  There seems to be rather a lot of them for that moniker to be appropriate.

I don't really agree with that.

De / rerail for less hostile / ridiculous conversation!

I don't think the main problem per se is that people are "too cool" to do anything. Yes, some people do apply this trope, but they are not the majority. The main reasons people may not attend your events could be;

1) They feel they don't know you well enough, and are thus unsure how socially comfortable they would feel in a situation. Solve by meeting them first, or allowing them to take a friend.
2) They aren't interested in the event. For example, a (admittedly stereotyped for purposes of clarity) popular, cool person who spends most of his free time doing physical sports would generally not feel there to be much gain in attending a D&D session. Another example, you're not going to get a quiet teetotaller academic to participate in a mad frat party (...usually!)
3) It doesn't fit in with their schedule. Solution - reschedule, but obviously this may create the same problem for others.
4) They are lazy. There isn't much you can do about this, except really bribe them by making the event more accessible / enjoyable for that person. Of course, this may make things not as hot for other dudes.

Someone has almost certainly posted something more valid and useful, but I just wanted to change the topic.

It's called nitpicking.

A tiny thing , though, a non alcohol even isn't the same as a no binge drinking event. Which one are we speaking about here?

Alcoholic drinks are usually the best one : as much as I like orange juice, it doesn't beat a Leffe, a good Bordeau, or a carfully distilled rakia. Only coffee and tea are somewhat serious competitors. So in that respect, a non alcoholic even have serious drawbacks to me.
