Never understood this one.

Some event comes up and mostly out of politeness, people say they will show. They then don't.
Keep in mind, I have no events for people not to go to, but still.... I've seen enough flop.

The rules seems to be: "If beer then go; if not no."

I dunno, it seems people would rather spend their lives in front of the TV. Then everyone bitches that there's nothing on TV and how it's all stupid....
But... you... watch... it.... Why?

The whole point people seem to miss, is that whatever stupid event it is, is just an excuse to hang out with people.

What the hell? I'm not getting this. Has our society devolved into a beer or no beer social scene? Worse, is everyone cool with this?

It's cause the beer companies put  drugs in your beer that make you go "meh" if anything doesn't invovle beer.

I've not really seen the attitude you speak of. Then again, I don't drink alcohol, watch TV, or generally attend social events, so...

A) They decided they just didn't want to go.
B) They've got better things to do.
C) They realized you're going, and decided quickly not to go.
D) They really, REALLY, love beer.
E) They think events w/o beer= events w/o Fun.

I discovered in college that a lot of my peers have a bizarre and probably unhealthy obsession with alcohol.  I don't drink, so I was a bit isolated on my campus.

The reality is that a lot of people simply don't have good social skills and they don't know how to act, unless everyone around them is tipsy and drunk.
