One beard-second is roughly defined as the average length of beard growth in one second, or precisely defined as 5 nanometers (some define it as 10 nanometers but we'll ignore them).

One beard-decade, by my calculations, is a little over five feet, or about the size of a slightly taller-than-average dwarf.

I nominate beard-decades as the DF official unofficial unit of length.

Hmm... I remember when I was dealing with the Volume and Mass thread pretty heavily, I made calculations about the size of tiles, basically figuring it should be a 10 foot cube.

If, instead of a "beard decade", it was a measure of twenty years (bidecade?), then you could say that a "beard bidecade" is the length of one tile.

It would have to be a beard-century at least. How else could we fit all those dragons in that tile?

Or we could just say one tile is two beard-decades on a side.

EDIT: Scratch that, "one tile with a reasonable amount of creatures residing in it."

Your assuming that a dwarf beard grows at the same rate as a human beard.
Also, this is the best unit of measurment ever. Newtons be dammed!

The Dwarven unit of force is the Bridgapult.

Raws says they do.

Raws says they do.
The raws are subjective. They depend on the insanity of the modder. I know that I will try and put the effort in to make females slighty smaller and weaker then males, as real life would seem to dictate, although I give them better analitical skills so I don't feel sexist.

Technically, a single dragon can theoretically fit into a single 1,000 cubic foot space, what with their mass and the fact that they have the same density as water.

What's their size and weight in the raws?

For Dragons,

[BODY_SIZE:1000:0:25000000]

After doing some reverse-engineering on some other things in the raws, I found out that means that after 1,000 years of age, they are 25,000,000 grams, or 25,000 kilograms.  (As opposed to the 60,000 size dwarf, which means they are 60 kg.)

All the regular tissue now has dummy values that give it a density of water, which is 1 kg/L.  In the 10 foot cube, which translates fairly well to 3 meters, meaning the cube is 27 cubic meters, which means it is 27,000 Liters of volume, you can therefore fit a 25,000 kilogram creature of water-like density, as it will occupy 25,000 liters of volume.

Yay, science and boredom!

But you still are being sexist.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I know, but I don't feel as bad about it.
And that's what matters.

...Y'know, female Dwarves have beards anyway. There seems to be very little difference between Dwarf genders.
