If I saw a book written like that, I would open it to the middle and spit in the binding.
Basically, use a real, and modern language that is actually used by the demographic you are marketing to. Also, make it make sense. Otherwise, it looks more like an attempt at some mysterious bullcrap rather than an actual work.

Meh.

I would love it if someone carried on in the tradition of Joyce.  I just think it would be easier to start with something a bit more transparent.  We have to be practical sometimes.

What happens next?! I'm dying here! Edge of my seat! The anticipation is palpable!

This is the bit where I praise you for jumping on the criticism wagon with the added twist of doing so in the douchiest way possible, right?
Just let me get my notes together.

What are you talking about - sarcasm is the highest form of wit!

Oh, that's ironic.

Actually, I am curious to see what happens. Is that some ancient text somebody is reading, or is it really how the entire book is going to be written?

It was the intended form of writing.

It is also incomprehensible.

It is how the entire book will be written. I don't know how long I'm gonna make it, though.

Also, y'all are not the only ones to complain about its incomprehensibility.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

If you're going to write something like this, you ought to at least explain where you're coming from and what you're trying to accomplish with it, because at first glance it looks completely impenetrable.

It also looks impenetrable at second and third glances too. I've read this thing about a dozen times and I just can't figure it out. I'm beginning to suspect that it's either in some form of code or that dhokarena56 is a troll.

To the OP... don't take the reaction to this thread too badly. Just consider it a lesson for the future.

In truth, there's no reason a good fantasy novel couldn't start with the hero reading something like this, though some sort of lead-in would be preferable to at least let the reader know they're not supposed to understand it. I'm assuming the goal was to seem unique/interesting, but it really just comes off as more... er... gimmicky. And a little annoying.

Good luck.

Then maybe you should write it in English.  Books are for reading, not looking at.

I was about to make a joke about that being lovecraftian text which would summon Cthulhu, looks like I was right.

I'll attempt to decipher this:

Hcetsel (Some sort of location or character), far thor's even existed(If it's ever  even existed), pfast fore the streaming byond wall living (Something involving the afterlife), tim beganth slháli swíyeque(Person called Tim beginning some sort of ritual?). Beganningmyth(The book), bourne two sealand(I assume it's set within the micronation of sealand) h1estesmi(This doesn't mean anything), we erreve bigenning circeler to berthing-place where you'd see t'hie'thim(Something about the beginning of the book?).
