I discovered my legendary weaponsmith is running around with an iron chain around his upper body:



Needless to say, tears of amazement were wept.

My guess is, he was chained up at some point and the restraint was deconstructed before his service was finished. Did your mayor demand twenty gold ore war-hammers or some "circus-tent" items or something?

Once I had a dog set up for butchering. It was on a chain. The butcher decided he didn't care and ripped the chain out of ground.

That is definitely cool. 

Wish my legendary Armoursmith was so lucky when I order his chain deconstructed.  Instead a military dwarf just hit him with an axe when he went to get a drink.
