Meh, as long as they are steampunk or mechanical or somesuch its fine. But i think that they have advanced far enough.

EVENT: Above the world, two vast orbs circle each other, descending across the sky in a double helix, as they descend vast waves of energy emanate from them, clashing garishly. The Green Orb shoots pulses of green, while the Black Orb has a steadily creeping aura, that advances in between the waves of green, and falls back slightly when hit. Everything living on the world can sense their battle, so titanic are the raw energies involved. The Avatars are smart enough to stay out of it, since one of these Orbs would be able to squash them like a bug if it so chose.
The green orb is losing, its waves pushed back before the relentless black tide, and it becomes clear that unless something is done it will be destroyed. The orbs pass above the otataral waste, and something old within the rusty plain awakens, a wave of antimagic and the forces in conflict fragment, a vast wave of antimagic travels upward from the plain. Shattering the magic the Orbs are loosing at each other, flinging the orbs far apart, one lands far northwest, the other lands slightly southeast.
As the black orb lands, it drains the life from the surroundings, killing everything within a large radius (hex it is in), and nothing but grass survives in area outside of that zone (hex's around the hex it is in).
This could only be THE ORB OF DEATH (basically, it drains the life of anything nearby, more as you get closer, touching it is instant death)
As the green orb lands, it gives life to the surrounding area, and soon trees grow from nothing, one in particular grows right below it, pushing it up, and becoming a tree the likes of which the world has never seen (super tall and large), the animals of the earth appear out of nowhere, and soon the area is teeming with life. But something is strange with the life in the area, they are both stronger and strangely more vital, as if they can contain a infinite amount of life. The feeling appears to you that if you chopped the head off one, it would just grow back.
This could only be THE ORB OF LIFE (it gives excess life to anything in the area, more as you get closer, too much life energy will kill you, touching will explode you).
Soon zachina drops two dragonlings off near them, and cautious of the orbs flys far away.
The one near the Orb of life grows up within a few years, gaining powerful magic life magic.
The one near the Orb of death sickens and dies, becoming a undead revanent of frightening power, with the ability to drain life and animate the dead.
Soon, Ekona (6-1=5) Drops by the orb of death, intent on harnessing its power to his own nefarious purposes, but its magic is too great, and even he is unable to touch it or bind it to his will.
After that Ekona creates a pain-golem (5-1=4, i was thinking about having it as a event, but its just a single random monster, its not a avatar to me either, nor is it a whole species, so it wouldn't be a create race).
The pain-golem feeds on the pain of others, and uses it both as a weapon and sustenance. It is able to channel its powers into a weapon, and any that gets struck by it will write in unspeakable pain. The more it tortures, the more powerful it gets. Although it can be struck down fairly easily by a group, attacking it on your own is a sure way to die. After torturing something for a while, it is able to plant a "seed" in them, then, next time the pain golem dies, they will die, rotting, and their bones will be animated by the pain golem, starting the cycle again. The pain golem appears to be a regular animated skeleton, surrounded by a red aura
Basically, the pain golem is pretty dangerous, but as its just a skeleton with crazy powers, fairly weak. A few people fighting it will probably die badly, but 10 or more people will probably be able to take it down without too much trouble.
EDIT: need to edit the map to put in where the orbs fell, will do that momentarily.
The orb of death is to the north of acid city, the orb of life is southeast of tonai.
