In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Half-lemon of juice, because if you add in the peel the thing will be way too bitter.  Positively unbearable.

The biggest problem is probably all the sugar, as with sodas.

High fructose corn syrup is the biggest problem.  I bet switching all soft drinks back to real sugar would go a long ways in alleviating America's obesity problems.

HFC isn't significantly different than regular sugar, except that it is cheaper and put into absolutely everything.

Purely anecdotal I know, but one of my grandfathers was a garlic farmer in Michigan. He ate a fresh clove of garlic every day right from the ground, dirt and all. He lived to 98 with out any medical problems, and was never bothered by mosquitoes, ticks or his wife.

Hohoho.  The "wife" part makes me laugh, but on the other hand I really like that lack of health problems... I'm really trying to get more garlic and onions recently, and honestly I can say that my health and energy have improved substantially.

Also supposedly linked with diabetes, but I haven't seen any studies like this one to reinforce that claim.  Regardless, it's bad stuff.

I find if I drink too much caffiene I start to get pain in my chest. That's only in ridiculous dosages though, well above 500mg.

These days my source of caffiene is mainly from tea. I drink 60mg worth of it when I start work (graveyard shift). That's aboot it.

Only very rarely when I need to pull an all nighter do I resort to energy drinks... can thank college for that. It pisses me off how almost all the ingredients in energy drinks have no known effect, like taurine.

Caffeine is addictive. Try to keep it under 250mg/day

They are psychologically addictive to me, so I try to stay away from it. I don't like the feeling of being tired, and I naturally like to stay up late.

Taurine is good for your liver. As in, in mice given liver damage through constant doses of alcohol, when given high doses of taurine, the liver damage reversed itself, in addition to preventing the damage in the first place when frequent doses were given.

I drink a 16 ounce mug of black coffee made with a french press and left to brew too long (and made with cheap coffee that's improperly stored; all this inexplicably makes it taste better) every morning. Oh fuck, I'm out of coffee, I meant to get more today... :(

I like some energy drinks and soda, but can't stand using them for the energy boost. I drink it for te flavor, and that's it. Period. I've been going like this for so long that the last time I srank a cup of coffee a few minutes after waking up, I puked.
