If it's just one odd tile out, I try to find a way to cover it with furniture or put in a window. Of course this means putting in other windows to make it symmetrical and stuff.

What if it's the wall, though?  If it's just one tile, it's likely to be the wall.

Worse, even if you obsidian-cast the one little bit of wall, the area around the soil you dug out will be revealed, while the area around the rest of the wall will not be.

But still, I never build major structures in stone like chalk or mudstone, anyway.  I'm insistant on having a more respectable stone, like an igneous stone.  Differently from most players, I'll even put up with a microcline room, so long as I get the whole room in microcline.

I made a statue garden and zoo in a full microcline room in one of my earlier forts, I rather liked it.

Then either dig out a one-tile hallway completely around the room or dig out the whole room's walls and replace all of them.

I plan my forts ahead, but mostly I'm ok with veins invading my rooms here and there. As long as everything's symmetrical and made of rock, I'm ok with it.

I farm obsidian and replace all natural walls with dark, dark obsidian constructions (or other rock types, like slate or schist). Microcline, orthoclase and layer stones I dont use mysteriously disappear when dug.

Floors I pave over with random rocks, which I then remove to make it nice and even. I usualy use some colored stone or metal to make murals, and combine that with some engravings.

And all dispite not having any sort of compulsive behaviours. I do tend to make a horrible mess of everything else.

That's probably not OCD. Also, the way to combat tendencies like that is to just face it head on until it stops bothering you basically
