Well, alternatively, you could destroy evidence so to progressively invalidate criminal records, as more and more charges would have to be dropped due to lack of proper proof. Of course, the more conservative (and authoritarian) the corresponding laws, the less effective this method would be to slim down records.

I like the fightclub idea.  I hire 20 hippies and put em all in a room for a week, I get back 1 superman

Much as I like the crack house murder loophole, I'm glad to hear it's finally being closed.  Makes games too easy.

I'll give fair warning that I'm planning to close the "crack house loophole" for the purposes of crimes next release. They still won't generate news stories, though.

You can get away with theft without becoming wanted if you avoid notice.

Just to throw this idea into things, what if this depended on the status of certain laws (or public opinion)? After all, it makes perfect LCS-style political sense that in a more conservative society, people care less about what goes on in the poorer and more criminally-inclined areas. It would also help provide more of a challenge as the nation gets more liberal.

I really like the Fight Club idea. Basically the School of Hard Knocks compliment to the University. Maybe even grade the opponents better and better as the player beats more people.

Kill people at crack houses and slum blocks.

No one ever blames the LCS for this? And you never get wanted for murder?

Yup, it's not against the law to kill people in crack houses or slums.

Well, I know graffiti can get you an easy 50 Juice, but no more than that.

Oh, and killing mercenaries/CCS members when they raid your safehouse doesn't count as murder or assault. That is, if you can kill them.

As far as I know, the only action that can grant unlimited juice without being criminal (criminal including ghetto killing, and criminal upon failure-actions such as jury converting) is, ironically, defending extremely well in the court.

At one point, there were valid 'peaceful' strategies you could use, though I can't remember them off hand. I remember when the CCS first was implemented, looking at the pros and cons of a 'peaceful' squad which didn't activate them verses a 'violent' squad. It was an interesting choice the game offered as to how you wanted to act...one that should be expanded upon. You -can- do all sorts of horrible things, and that can be very fun; but you shouldn't be -forced- too. Its always easier to get attention through means such as are in LCS; but they come with consequences. There are alternatives to them, which also have consequences. And, in the long run, may be harder.

You can still win the game with peaceful methods alone, but you might have to disable the CCS. You probably won't get high juice though.

So basically all assault, armed assault and murder will now count?

What about doing it half way...  murder and armed assault will count and  assault will not count?

Part of the idea is to make it so that punch-outs with teenagers aren't a risk-free strategy for leveling up. Maybe a "fight club" style underground brawling thing?

I like the fight club thing, but I also agree that assaults, especially misdemeanor assaults in crackhouses should not count as crimes. I don't think the locals are going to be running to the police unless someone actually dies or you set the building on fire or whatever.

But closing the mass murder loophole is a great thing, I've been using it waaay too much, myself, and it was getting rather silly in terms of justification.

Would it work to have the criminalisation be tied to the state of site alarm when you flee (or at the time committed)? So if you get the hell out of dodge before conservatives are alarmed, you don't get criminalised for any minor crimes like graffiti or maybe even vandalism. Before site alarm is at evacuation you can get away with assault - there's no separate charge for "assault with a deadly weapon" is there? - and murder is always criminalised.

I kind of have this vision of each site having some level of importance to the Conservative Machine, with the lowest level of importance behaving like the crack house and slums do now (minus murder and, if implemented, assault with a deadly weapon) but with the alarm changes, and the highest level of importance having zero tolerance for any crime (video cameras, if you need a justification) regardless of site alarm. As a bonus you could adjust juice gain based on this importance value, to reflect the "daring" involved.

Update for LCS version 4.03.0:
Your characters now get a little of the juice that their followers gain.  I'm not certain on the specifics, or if it works all the time, but now a founder can avoid any illegal action, and gain juice through the violent and criminal actions of their followers.  Great for Nightmare Starts!

The way it works is that whenever juice is awarded, 1/5 of that amount, rounded down, is awarded to their leader, up to the subordinate's juice total. So the leader doesn't get juice if the leader is already higher level than the follower, but a "laying low" leader will juice up over time with high performance followers. Things like stealing (which only give a couple juice at a time, for each item) don't count, but killing people (which gives 5 juice to each person in the party) will. Large things, like shutting down the nuclear reactor, will give significant amounts of juice to both follower and leader, assuming the leader isn't too high level.

This award can carry multiple tiers up the chain, so the leader's bonus award, if large enough, can trigger THEIR leader to get a bonus as well; for example, if you wipe out the CCS, leaders get up to 200 juice plus 40 per follower, 8 juice per follower's follower, and 1 juice per follower's follower's follower. It's a big pyramid scheme of juice. The big catch, again, is that it only happens when your subordinates are higher level than you are.

The Professional Thief start (or at least a good set of thief-type choices and a stealth suit from somewhere) is pretty good for crime-free Juice gains.  I've stolen over 200 Juice worth of items with no criminal record, simply by heading for the exit once I smell panic.  Usually that gives me enough time to clear out the first floor of an apartment complex.  It's not the fastest method, but it's pretty safe, apparently.
