What's frigtening is the very low victory margin. In a place like Kenya, you can be sure the opposition just won't pack up and accept the results.

Hey guys!

I'll just leave this here for you.

Is it silly for me to assume that Assad was right?

al-Nusra being wrong does not make Assad right.

+1

There's a rather large swath of the world where it's not about supporting the good guy vs. the bad guy, it's about the bad guy vs. the other bad guy.

Being secular isn't everything, and it isn't anything with people like Assad. The difference between a secular dictator and an Islamist dictator is only their reasons for killing innocents.

Besides that. The assertion that "it was Al Queda all along" isn't validated by this news.

While it's an article from 2011...

Just a reminder, as he is under trial:

#2 in the following article:

Four reasons why Pfc Bradley Mannning deserves the Presidential Medal of Freedom, not a prison cell.

Do note though this was before the democratic yet tumultous victory of the Islamic Brotherhood in Egypt. If there is a bright side to Egypt's situation though, perhaps countries currently struggling for their own democracy will take note the effect of electing conservative Islamic parties into power and vote accordingly to help prevent the many incidents such as this and the consequences that one reads about in Egyptian news: Egypt's Coptic pope (religious leader of 10% of Egyptians) blasts Morsi 'negligence'

A more modern story getting back to the topic of one man's sacrifice: Government asked to prove army private knowingly helped al-Qaeda by leaking secrets to convict him of aiding the enemy.

This could be a VERY bad thing: Syria apparently has used Sarin against rebel forces, though small scale.

This may become very ugly indeed. They probably need more evidence but this may be the beginning of the intervention. Luckily for Obama it'll occur in his second term.

/benefit of doubt
There is also the possibility the rebels came upon small stockpiles and unintentionally mucked em up.  Considering how things can be with the uneducated going around looting the spoils.

If they attacked a stockpile there would be no looting required. Bust a tank and you've got a sarin everywhere.

PROGRESS

I read this as "Saudi Arabia will be legally allowing riding women as bicycles". Far more interesting headline, I tell you.

Anyway, The first reports I heard were from the Syrian government. But, they being the kind to slander the rebels with Sarin, I doubt that it counts as facts.

Still, with Obama agreeing it was Sarin, this puts a LOT of pressure on him. Especially given his red-line. What's his next move though? What the rebels are asking for? (Supplies, info, Surgical strikes, no-fly zone) More? Less?
