Best Korean Boss, nice guy after all?
*Le Gasp*

Considering it though, Rodman probably ain't got a diplomatic eye for that stuff.  Havn't looked into much of this stuff, but I figure he only got in cause of his celebrity status.

Barrack Obama versus Kim Jong Un in a good ol fashioned game of B-Ball.  Take your bets.

Up on the Stakes:
Kim Jong Un offers up: Best Korea toning down on the guano and officially ending the war against Not-best Korea and the US/World.
Barrack Obama offers up: US giving aidtribute to Best Korea.  (Best Korea still agrees to tone down on the guano.)

Rodman was flown in by Vice, an outfit that specialize in funny, stunty, not-so-serious journalism. Their reportage about the North Korean slave camp in Siberia is made of 70% of shots of them boozing with anyone from Russian thug to 14-years-old police officer to NK slave.

Vice also went on and on about how difficult it is to get into North Korea when I can go on holiday to North Korea this year if I want to, but I'd rather not sleep in a bugged room. Every time I would go to the toilet I would feel very self conscious too.

Well,
1) You're not a journalist shooting a documentary
and
2) NK recently opened up to tourism

Funny thing is that should N.Korea successfully invade S.Korea now - it would immediately politically crumble. All the soldiers seeing with their own eyes how their capitalist neighbours live would have an effect of a psychological nuclear bomb.

Kim III and some of the NK top officials who travelled abroad probably understand that.

Well, there's also the fact that basically every other nation would rush in to help SK that would also destroy them.

1) As far as I know, "neither were they", if my memory doesn't fail me.

2) People have been able to go to North Korea on holiday for about the last 10 years I reckon. Indeed, there are numerous collections of valuable photographs and videos collected from about 2005/2006 onwards, some of which are visible on youtube. I think there's even some stuff from 2000-2003.

On that note, TPB is now hosted in North Korea. They made a blog post about it, but then, I'm not really planning to link to a website supposedly blocked in too many a country, so have their traceroute:

1) But they did have a camera, and where american, and where shooting, a lot.

2) Well, they only recently opened up more, if I remember, visiting was only allowed during the mass games.

My impression is that most North Koreans are aware of how their capitalist neighbours live. People started to get Chinese TV illegally 20 years ago, so they are aware of the luxury. Some will be more aware than others though. I wouldn't go so far as to say it'll be a psychological nuclear bomb but it would be hard.

Indeed, Mr. Kim is aware of how things would go if any unification attempts began. They surely know it would be suicide to attempt war.

1) But they did have a camera, and where american, and where shooting, a lot.

1) Many tourists are American (or at least Western) in North Korea and carry cameras and take lots of photos and sometimes videos. You just have to be very careful.

2) I wasn't familiar with that, the videos I've seen didn't appear to be taking place during the mass games. People were able to travel across the country in shuttle busses and do stuff like Vice did.

SNip.
Never underestimate the power of a good hundred year indoctrination. (and labour camps). However, the moment the decay sets in, the entire regime will likely fold onto itselves like a frictionless card construction.

The decay set in after the death of Kim Il-sung. The regime's power has been weakening for decades now. The end has already begun, we just have to wait.

When two ideas come into contact with one another, one will inevitably fall into a minority or even disuse. The stronger idea will automatically and naturally subvert and break apart the weaker ideology.

I'm all in favor of dialogue because I have no doubt that NKs Ideology will be utterly obliterated within decades. NK will become... well, just like SK. They may even become a whole Korea again, possibly. But NK as it exists today wouldn't withstand outside contact. If Kimmy wants to initiate that contact I say we let him.

Hell, offer him a summer home for letting us co-op his country! XD Muhahahahah
