Israel wouldn't attack official ships. But then, the US won't cross Israel, and the EU want to stay "neutral".

Remember Ship to Gaza?
Wasn't that mainly a Turkish/muslim/GODDAMN LEFT-WING POPULIST (sorry, but that party in Germany - Die Linke - drives me nuts; they are a mix between the remnants of the SED and pseudo-leftist elements) kind of deal? AFAIK the European governments did not officially take part in that mission.

Why don't we just give the Gaza strip to Japan or some other country not involved in this mess? Maybe then Israel and the Palestinians stop bickering.

A stupid idea, but at this point, it's worth a shot.

It isn't Israel and the Palestinians so much as it is Israel and Hamas. Fatah is open to the peace process and partially controls West Bank. If Hamas and Israel stopped trying to kill each other off for 10 seconds the peace negotiations might actually go somewhere.

It does not help that Hamas was also trying to kill off Fatah from 2007 to early 2012.

It also doesn't help that all Fatah got to show for its meekness is the best lands stolen by Israeli settlers, a system of checkpoint that strangle the West Bank, IDF control over most of its area, and Israel cutting off funds whenever it suits them.

Also, why a ground war is likely.

Except that Isreal is begging the US to screw over Fatah every other day as well.

Sure, if the options are Lose/Double Lose, most people would pick lose - but I can understand why some people would rather double lose and keep fighting the group that gave them such a lousy deal to begin with.

And also during the height of Israel's expansionary phase. And during a sudden and major military conflict. And 45 years ago.

Takin' bets on who's going to win the upcoming Israel-Palestine conflict.

ODDS:
Israel 2:1
Palestine 1:2
Civilians 0:Infinity

Voting Isreal.
It might have some long term fallout from the international community, but in a actual war Palestine can't possibly match them, and they would probably beat the entire middle east if the rest of them joined in.

It does depend on what exactly win means, but assuming you mean "beat the hell of Palestine" then they will win.
I would probably give Isreal 5:1 odds.

If I was US president I would impose a complete embargo of trade and aid to Israel until they allow an independent Palestinian state to exist and withdraw their illegal settlers. I would also demand a cease fire within 7 days under threat of the absolute destruction of every holy site in the country both Jewish and Muslim.
