Anti-Israelic, yes. Some of them anti-western as well. The dictators that were/are being ousted were put there or kept there by the western world, and they know it. We can only hope for the best.

Are there any good geographical positions the rebels could force loyalists to fight for? Unfortunately I am unfamiliar with Libyan geography. Possibly a hill with good lines of fire that can be prepared with artillery and fortifications at the top? The people could prepare such a place while the fighters keep the attention on the cities. Trenches and tunnels would help. The rebels will have to delay the loyalists until they can occupy a defensive position that has been prepared in the best possible way given the time. After that, it would be best to be prepared to fall back to a similarly prepared position that had been prepared while the rebels delayed the loyalists.

If you have gun crews that can hit a target, and a tank in the open, you have a decent chance to kill it, especially if you can fire first from a hidden position. Also, remember that tanks often have thicker armor in the front. This would be difficult without that damn air support, though. What model tanks do the loyalists have?

However though, it seems that the rebels will need to conserve their strength until reaching Tobruk.

Begin stockpiling water in Tobruk. It has a deepwater port, which could be the rebel's lifeline. It's too bad there wasn't one of those big old battleships attached to the Enterprise.

So is the Arab League actually going to do anything or are did they just agree to ask someone else to do it.  My guess is the latter.

The arab league isn't known for its action oriented posture. That they've even agreed on something slightly controversial is a great achievement for that body. They'll just tell the UNSC that they're cool with it. Much better to have someone else do the actual imposing who you can then blame for any fuckups.

What'll be interesting is Gaddafi's response to this.

This is exactly the news that most of the international politicians were waiting for. They were not about to take action without open invitation to do so, because of how poorly things went in the past. Intervention in Iraq for example.

Britain and France are also on board.  Germany said they were officially against NATO involvement, but that was before the Arab League voted.  I seem to recall the US State Department saying they'd be ready to make a "decision" by Tuesday at the latest - this will probably accelerate that, given that US ships are already moved into the area.

Do you ever have anything positive to say?  Is it always about someone else demanding things of "us"?  Yeah, they could use the help.  There's a guy slaughtering his own people, and America has the biggest military in the world, with alliances with most of the League.  It's something we should pay attention to.
