I think seizing his money could have a good outcome if it goes back to Egypt where it belongs.

Besides, that was meant to come across as exasperated, not angry. Actually, that's a pretty safe rule of thumb for reading my posts: if I sound angry, I'm either being facetious, employing hyperbole, employing hyperbole facetiously, or exasperated. Unless I'm talking about copyright, in which case I am angry, even if I don't sound angry.

Man, you're exasperated/facetious/hyperbolic/talkingaboutcopyright all the time.
Your first post came across as an honest misunderstanding, so I explained it for your benefit and the benefit of others. Now you're just trolling.

I meant in this day and age, many places (the UN for example) are horribly powerful and happen to not stand for things like that, they'll come in, destroy the dictatorship and laugh at it.

Because, that happens to be one of the reasons the UN exists, to prevent Nazi style dictatorships and to give humans rights.
No, they really don't. The UN is extremely weak, the vast majority of its members are states with horrible human rights records, and even the US only gives a shit if there's something to gain from it/the president happens to have an insane grudge against a country (see: Iraq). Even apartheid systems get an "ehhh.... we don't really like what you're doing, you shouldn't do that or... whatever, now can we move onto something important, like what we're ordering for lunch?" Both Israel and South Africa have/had a policy of butchering any locals who stand up to them, bulldozing the homes of random locals, and instituting segregated ghettos subject to regular bombing/bulldozing as the case may be, and the UN does/did nothing beyond condemn it, when they bother(ed) to even go that far.

I suppose the point that I'm really trying to get across is "magical happy human-rights-observing democratic revolution land doesn't exist, with even the de facto poster child for it having only gotten to its position through sheer luck (not to mention the atrocities it's committed for one reason or another, which aren't really even worth mentioning aside from refuting the "human-rights-observing" part too, since we know them all and have long since stopped caring about them)..."

I think we have different definitions of what sounds angry. No need for accusations.

The army just dissolved parliament? That doesn't seem like a good thing.

This whole time I've been wanting to be excited and happy for the Egyptians but I kept being afraid something like what I'm envisioning would happen.

Parliament was composed almost entirely of NDP members (Muba's party) so I think it's a symbolic clearing-the-slate action.  Also, they were talking about moving up the elections to July/August rather than September, which is encouraging.

The events occurring in Egypt will provide the necessary stepping blocks for a better future for the country. Do not worry.

The only thing that saddens me is that 300+ people had to die in protests to make sure good changes occur in the country.

It's a third world country in the middle of the most volatile geopolitical clusterfuck since early twentieth century Europe, surrounded by enemies on all sides, with countless violent extremist organizations funded by the Saudi government lurking all around, with exactly nothing of value to the outside world but the Suez canal, which could easily be taken from it, and it just underwent a military coup. How on earth can anyone get "this will end well" out of that?

They also have a powerful military, and full support of the US even now.
While the political structure is being cleared, the military structure is still perfectly secure and thus unlikely to fall to outside threats.

People aren't saying it will be sunshine and teapots. But there's a decent chance of it getting better.

Everything you said aside from the last part is old news, and they've been making due. I fail to see how this makes it any worse, and I can see several ways in which things might improve.

Insofar as I've heard, this was actually one of the protester's demands.

That makes sense to me. If the presidential elections were all fixed under Mubarak it seems reasonable to assume that the parlimentary elections were probably fixed as well.

Neither of these things is true, at least to the extent you're assuming.

Perhaps. But they've already set a precedent for inaction in the face of crisis, and for usurpation of the authority they're sworn to serve. They're likely quite vulnerable to internal threats, and all of the most dangerous nations around them have shown time and again their aptitude for subterfuge.

It's still a military dictatorship, albeit one with a high approval rating at the moment. They appear to be cunning, I'll give them that, which means they probably won't fall into the usual Stupid Evil shenanigans particularly retarded dictators pull, apparently for the sole reason that "that's what them dictators in the movies do!", but at the end of the day, they're still the poor, embattled nation in a volatile clusterfuck that they've been.

I understand the point of dissolving the parliament and why it would be good, but the sentence "army dissolves parliament and suspends constitution" (actually even the last part more so) just send shivers down my spine.

Egypt has been a dictatorship.  I imagine their constitution supports the recently-overthrown power structure rather than the universal human rights and checks & balances and such that you're probably thinking of.  In other words, it's probably a good move.  Within a few months of the upcoming election cycle, they'll probably ratify a new constitution.
