What do you mean? The military has been on the side of the revolutionaries since the begining, just not enough to mow down the loyalists and execute Mubarak on international television. That will probably be done by the civilian protestors.

Looking is all the military seems to do at the moment. Makes me wonder why they'd put a tank somewhere if they have no intention of using it. It's not like deploying a tank is exactly free you know.

As a guest on a radio show, Beck once told the host to be careful, lest he "Roll out the blackboard and link you to communism.". The guy is one of the prime speakers on the largest conservative US news station. Trust me, it is entirely possible that the real Glen Beck is an elite liberal socialist, just one that loves the sound of money more than his own honesty. Of course, we might also want to factor Becoming The Mask in, even if the former is true (Which it probably isn't, I'm just making you consider that he might not believe a word that comes out of his mouth).

He's just an awesome manipulator of his intended audience.  I very much doubt him to be dumb or dimwitted.

What I find impressive is that he supposedly has a massive amount of viewers/listeners and they probably take him at face value even though it's clear that, many times, he struggles not to laugh throughout his theatrics.

I think he uses the logic that most people will only follow halfway through to what he says they should do, so what he says has to be twice as extreme as what he means.

Also, he knows it gets him a lot of outraged attention as well, which means cash (in other words, he gets troll monies).

Undercuts the most viable threat to the conservative message at the time. If someone is looking exceptionally rational, or like they're a better metric of American thought than the powers that be, Beck starts associating them with communism and/or un-American sentiments to fire up the base.

I can't stand Beck and I'm far right politically.  I remember listening to his radio show on a couple of occasions about 6 years ago.  It had a lot of dead air and jokes that fell flat.
