Well you have a great palette to choose from with me, Irish ancestry, born in England and living in Australia. Aren't you lucky?

It was a rhetorical request. I don't debase myself to lies and ad homonym attacks. I am the first person to say that the US sucks when it comes to living up to our ideals. But we are far, far from being "the most evil".

Give me the opportunity to get rid of a country in some place or time, and it would be America in 1850. That's when the world started getting screwy.

Really? you think that is when the world starts getting screwy? The exploitation of the industrial revolution in Europe, the inquisition, the crusades, the first jihad, the yellow revolution, the dark ages, Japans feudal era, the fall of Rome, the Mongolian horde, the purge of Canaan. Go all the way back to the beginning of history, back to the myths and legends that precede history and you will find that humans have been fucking things up for as long as we have existed.

That isn't even counting the crap that has happened in the world since 1850, or are you forgetting the taliban, Pal Pot, Stalin and Hitler just to name a few?

Oh man, you've never heard of the USSR have you

The U.S. has been going at it for a lot longer and extending influence over much greater areas.

Pol Pot and Hitler could be stopped by the destruction of America back in the 1850s and the USA gave the Taliban their weapons.

You may be forgetting that crops grown in the US are the staple for feeding nearly a quarter of the worlds population. It isn't evenly distributed, but we feed far far more people than we starve.

Hey were it not for Bernanke we wouldn't be seeing this huge upsurge of political upheaval, instability and starvation in a good chunk of the world like Egypt.

Huh.  By the look of it, the bureaucracy is far behind the events in the street.

Arguable.  It's a shame that recorded history coincides with the spread of "civilization".  So I can't say that you're wrong, but the sustainability and level/nature of violence in indigenous cultures compared with the last 15,000 years of history is debatable, and still makes up the vast majority of human existence.

So yeah, how 'bout that Egypt, huh?

Where the Hell did PTTG go, he should have known better than to let a vaguely-political related thread drive itself.  Empty platitudes and dickwaving galore.

Well, the US embassy itself said this:

Quote
We have seen a video that alleges a US embassy vehicle was involved in a hit and run incident that injured dozens in Cairo. We are certain that no embassy employees or diplomats were involved in this incident. On January 28, however, a number of our US Embassy vehicles were stolen. Since these vehicles were stolen, we have heard reports of their use in violent and criminal acts. If true, we deplore these acts and the perpetrators.

If crazy stuff goes on in a country involving an embassy it's usually the US Embassy.  It's never the Ecuadorian Embassy or something.
