US says that Kadhafi have chemical and biological weapon.
I expect James Bond to act any second now.

Is that all? At least he doesn't have a Metal Gear.

Metal..... Gear?!

Ya, Snake is retired. No way we could stop a Metal Gear without Snake. What is James Bond going to do against one? use his walther ppk? throw his shoe?

Didn't one of the Bond movies involve a big 80's style boom-box with a concealed anti-armor rocket launcher hidden in it?

I thought bond steals the metal gear and drives it in a ridiculous chase scene through interesting locations, generally breaking at least one wall and forcing some of his pursuers to screw up and drive off cliffs.

He uses an otherwise completely useless device which he was given just after his initial briefing, has never used before and will never use again. Just before/just after using it, he makes a witty one-liner.

I guess you can say South Koreans are an optimistic people.
Quote
The events in the middle east are having far-reaching repercussions it seems, with South Korea using the revolutions in an apparent attempt to goad North Koreans into similar protests.

The South Korean military has been dropping leaflets into North Korea about the pro-democracy protests in Egypt, conservative South Korean parliament member Song Young-sun said. The country has also sent food, medicines and radios for residents as part of a psychological campaign aimed at encouraging North Koreans to think about change.

The food and medicines were delivered in light-weight baskets tied to balloons with timers programmed to release the items above the target areas in the impoverished North, Song said in a statement.

South Korea's defence ministry declined to confirm the move, citing its policy of not commenting on sensitive issues in its dealings with the North.

The food items bore a message saying they were sent by the South Korean military and were safe for human consumption but could be fed to livestock to test safety, Song said.
The leaflets also carried news of public protests in Libya against the country's long-time leader, Song's office said.

Analysts say the level of Pyongyang's control over communications and movement of people is too tight to make it likely for North Koreans to rise up in similar protests against their leaders.

Yeah, it's laughably inappropriate. What bug me since the beginning is that the situation in Lybia now is pretty much what Bush propaganda presented as Iraq situation back then : a crazed dictator oppressing it's population, while in possession of weapons of mass destruction, and the poeple of Lybia would welcome a military help.

Mitiga air force base said to be joining the rebellion now. Significant since it's just outside of the city center of Tripoli.

Internet seems to be working OK in Libya today so there are lots of first hand accounts coming out. Like these two:
http://twitter.com/AliTweel
http://twitter.com/Abukhit
Pretty harrowing stuff. Seems to be a lot of movement and gunfire in Tripoli. If Qaddafi falls today then the remaining dictators in the area might want to consider banning fridays.

EDIT: Shit, some guy in Tripoli just got found by loyalists while live on the phone with al-jazeera. Hope he's OK.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, people are inspired.

The difference in priorities are notable. Across the middle east they are calling for jobs and freedom. In North Korea they are calling for food and electricity.

But the message is clear: you can get rid of dictators.

Now if only there was a way to get rid of democratically elected morons...  ::)
