Freeware games search!
« on: January 28, 2011, 10:17:53 am »

Hello all!

I'm looking for some freeware games I can put on a memory stick, Dwarf Fortress works but takes a really long time to save so I'm looking for any others you can suggest.

Thank you in advance!

Crikey, that's an open ended question...

Pretty much any roguelike, emulators, DOSBox/old games, the list is pretty much endless.

My currents are Stone Soup Dungeon Crawl, of which their is a thread for, Prospector, which I believe also has a thread, and Transcendence, which may or may not have its own thread.

Moral of the story: Just check the threads.

No problem! I've hardly had to make a thread in here because people aren't afraid to voice their opinions on the games they find. It's led me to some jewels, and helped me avoid failboats. The group here is probably one of the most critical I've found (in a good way). If they reviewed for Game Informer, very few things would get above a 6.

I like having a copy of Spelunky, DF, any decent roguelike, maybe nethack/stone soup/elona?

Uplink is a nice one to carry around too, and some Popcap games are worth having - 'specially Peggle and Plants Vs Zombies.

Cave Story and IJI is probably the best freeware games i've played, they are quite small too, not sure if you need anything else to play it from a USB memory. Try them if you haven't

Command and Conquer :P And this. And Warzone 2100. And Spring.

Honestly, with the size of memory sticks nowadays, you're not terribly limited. I could fit the entirety of my roguelike folder on a single one, and there's probably over a hundred games in it right now. You're not exactly pressed for room when you've got over a gig of space.

I'll cast a vote for Noctis, depending on what kind of OS we're talking. It's a bit tricky to get working nowadays.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.
