The quantity of updates the last 2 months have been significantly less than average.  not sure exactly what it means... but it means that things at least sure seem slower.

It means that Toady has stopped doing the long chain of bug-squashing releases that he made every week or so following the initial release of 31.01, and has started going back to adding more features rather than just squishing bugs.

Except for .17, there weren't really new features being added into the game, it was mostly just bug fixes, and if there was a feature, it was basically a lone, small feature.

Adding things to the game takes time and requires testing.  Bug fixes tend to come out quickly, because Toady will just release a quick fix to the worst bugs before turning his attention to the less serious bugs that he can spend a little more time fixing.  The rate at which the version number incriments is not really a good indicator of how much progress is actually being made towards making a "Fantasy World Simulator".

Personally, I like [DF] because after climbing the damned learning cliff, I'm too elitist to consider not liking it.
"And no Frankenstein-esque body part stitching?"

There is economy tracking, sites no longer have every resource. When you make a fort you'll have to consider what you want because metals are less numerous.
Aw, but I like my patchwork fortresses. When there's one vein or cluster per tile it stands out so much more and makes the grid pattern more obvious.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

If there is no way to change it in stock world gen I'm sure someone will make a utility.
