So, I started a fort, this one had my first ever

Demonic Fortress.

Anyways, it's summer the first year, my first wave of 5 migrants arrive. I start digging out rooms for them only to accidentally uncover the first cavern layer. I think well better wall that off, before I could even get a mason down there forgotten beast already. I think okay it's a hole in the roof no problem. To bad this Forgotten beats is a giant flying slug... good bye fort. So, I've never got anything even close to this this soon, I actually had steel weapons and some armor build but still thats to much. Did the spoiler have anything to do with it? If you want to know anything else just ask.

Probably. The thing in the fortress is insanely valuble.

Yep. If you've got the spoiler, it tends to be worth a lot of dwarf bucks, and the game assumes you own it. FB, goblin seiges/ambushes and all kinds of other fun are based on how much you've produced, and the number of dwarfs (and maybe the worth of tame animals???) you have in your fort. Dwarf bucks=Reasons for Fun!

When you start the game, assign a broker immediately. If your fort value is stupidly high for no reason, you have the spoiler somewhere on your map. Good because you can definitely go to the circus by an undead infested route (with a nice candy stick in hand), bad because you'll be getting seiged/FB'ed all the way there.

if you 'R'eview your fort you'd spot the sword even without any brokers.

It's a slug, wouldn't your recruit just be able to punch it down?

not necessarily.  Slugs can be really really big.  it needs to be something like water or fire or vomit to just 'ploosh' at the slightest touch.

Salt is the soliton to ANY slug problem, even with slug FBs. Make a battle Salt Celler. 10 dwarfbucks to whoever gets the reference.

I managed to survive, with a lot of hard work. Only to find out the only civilization left alive is the elves and kobolds. Goblins=Dead, Dwarfs=Dead, Humans=Dead. Also second forgotten beast sometime around the start of second year, got two recruits to legendary in steel armor and they fought everything off, until eventually getting strangled by the HFS, and the fort fell.

Well actually forgotten beasts don't work quite like titans and sieges, etc.  They can wonder into your lands quite early.  I had my first FB show up before I'd generated a particularly large amount of wealth as I was purposefully surpressing my DBs before I started building my magma pumpstack (which made my wealth x50 what it was due to all the enormous iron corkscrews)
