Threadsplosion

Not forum thread.  Pig tail fiber thread.  I'm training a dyer, for some inane reason.  I guess I have just that many idle workers!  Regardless, this is quickly resulting in a LOT of midnight blue thread piling up.  Any creative uses for this?  Tie up goblin prisoners deep in my catacombs?  Deck out my civilization in midnight blue gloves, vests, pants, etc?  Capture some elves and chain them to a 1x1 post with creative use of drawbridge so that I can leave them dangling by their necks?

Plan A currently involves magma and a garbage dump, but that's no fun!

(also, I will never run short of sutures!)

Make all your soldiers wear midnight blue cloaks/hoods/capes over their armor.

Socks.  Lots and lots of socks.  It's the greatest Dwarven vice of all, outstripping alcohol by several orders of magnitude: the desire to own and haul as many feet-warming tubes of cloth as possible.

I did hear somewhere that socks make good mermaid bait...

Macaque bait, perhaps?

I have carp, I need something involving carp.  How, exactly, does one access the carp who are currently underwater?

Make thousands of blue ropes.  Build them in every unoccupied square in your fortress.  Call it carpeting.

Pump the ocean dry and let them all air-drown.

Oddly, I'm doing all this so that I can get a handful of master-woven, master-dyed ropes to use in my breeding pits/dungeon lairs.

You need lots of bags for a glass industry. Or, you could fill a storeroom full of bags of sugar and flour.

I may try and sell seeds wholesale.  A barrel of bagged seeds can be 1,000 seeds, not counting the cost of the bags and the barrel itself.  Because, that's exactly what I need, another thing to export.  I'm already shipping out shields, cat leather products, weapons of low quality (weaponsmith in training) and HORDES of stolen goblin equipment.

Sigged, by the way. Considering I just said something like this in another thread, and it's way to egocentric to quote oneself.

... and HORDES of stolen goblin equipment.

If you decorate goblin clothing, it counts as your fort's wealth rather than getting rid of imports. When you are trading, items produced at your fort are brown, whereas imports are white and have (brackets).

Carp-petting? Catch 'em, tame 'em, use blue ropes to chain them to the river bed.

Yeah, I'd say outfit your military in blue cloth. Make sure you have uniforms set to replace clothing, though, or else they won't be able to wear it all at once and they'll keep switching between uniform parts.
