In my current fort, the expedition leader worships two gods.  The names weren't that anything special, but their aspects ... :D

The first, whom she only casually worshipped, was a god of rain and trees -- the fortress was on the border of rocky hills and heavily wooded wetlands ... and it rained 9 months out of the year, at least.  ???

The second she worshipped was a god of ... fortresses!   :D

Zepave Dawnhogs the Butterfly of Vales the Marsh Titan ... was taken out by a single novice axedwarf and his pet war kitten. Long Live Domas Etasastesh Adilloram, slayer of the snow butterfly!
Doesn't quite have the ring of heroics to it...
Mother: "...and after the evil snow butterfly was defeated, Domas and his kitten lived happily ever after!"
Kids: "Yaaaay!"

I suppose this god that's very widely worshipped in my fortress is very funny if you've read One Dwarf Against the World:
Quote
Urist is a deity of The Cloister of Spears. Urist most often takes the form of a female dwarf and is associated with chaos.

I also once had a goddess called Yara Pantjuice. She was the goddess of muck, and every statue of her was of her looking dejected or cringing.

Perfect.
In my headcanon, Urist is from now on the consort of Armok.

Well, I accidentally my region1 folder while fiddling with mods, so new world time. I genned a few and checked legends looking for cool stuff, and I have a world with ANOTHER giant cave spider god, this one slightly less wussy than the last one.

Quote
Amas the Umbral Deep is a deity of The Curled Handle. Amas most often takes the form of a male giant cave spider and is associated with caverns.

I immediately embarked with dwarves of this civ and will be catching a Living Avatar of Amas to install in a shrine as soon as I can get down to the caverns.

In other news, the humans are being more disturbing than usual, worshipping a helmet snake deity - associated with fertility even!! this isn't suggestive at all........

I have a goddess of lust widely worshipped in my fortress... I gave up trying to spike trap the believers as they were just multiplying too fast. Lust is fine if it's not dwarves. There's a reason they reproduce through spores.

I have, at the entrance to Inksquids, a Bronze Statue of Ator, deity of thunder and muck, depicted as a rotting female demon rat.

Ator is laughing.

Frankly, between that and the pile of rotting kobolds and headless elves just outside the gate, I'm surprised I get any traders at all...

These two are right beside each other on the historical figure list:

Mel was a deity that occurs in the myths of the Frosty Confederation. Mel was most often depicted as a male human, and was associated with pregnancy.

Kudpa was a deity that occurs in the myths of the Frosty Confederation. Kudpa was most often depicted as a female human, and was associated with labor.

At one point a few months back I had a Kobold Camp running, and got the following deity worshiped by a few of my little scamps:

Odd choice of deity from a race of thieving lizards.

Eh, think about it. If kobolds were vengeful, they'd die out in a matter of weeks.

Åmât Nestmules the lunch of muffins, male dwarf associated with festivals and dance...I just like his name.
Dungda the Raunch of Nudity, male human associated with depravity...the name made me laugh.

Obviously, the annual Festival of Amat start with a []cave wheat muffin[] lunch. Then, of course, dancing.

I got a goddess of nature once which took the form of a female caphopper. I dunno, I thought it was fitting.

I want a giant cave spider god, though...use its avatars to the guard its temple.

What's the spider a god of? Definitely try to catch one of its avatars and build it a temple!

And I can understand trying to stave off an evil god's wrath, but ... it's muck. What's that god going to do, leave muddy footprints on the dwarves' nonexistent carpets? That wouldn't even be noticeable among the vomit, pus and gore that covers much of the average fortress. ;)

Maybe that's why they all worship muck, think of that?

My favorite one was a statue of a the god of blight, death, rebirth, and birth, depicted as a rotting male dwarf. I was torn between thinking of Shiva (the hindu variety, not the final fantasy variety), and thinking of the common depiction of a rotting dwarf. That dwarf was depressed.

I've seen several dwarves that worship a single god twice (i.e. they are a faithful worshipper of Atzul and a dubious worshipper of Atzul). Anyone else had this bug?

My current civ has a goddess of fortresses, war, death, blight and disease. Clearly, I'm expected to weaponise Forgotten Beast blood or something. Either that, or keep my entrance hall constantly flooded with delightful wafts of miasma.

Messing around with magma for the first time.  Still haven't produced a !!dorf!!, but I've discovered the wonders of not having to worry about fuel, i.e. SMELT EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.  HEY URIST, BRING ME THAT KITTEN, LET'S SEE IF WE CAN SMELT THAT TOO.

Posting to add that the helmet snake god of fertility is called Busbel the Bearded Seed.

...yeah.
