I'm just glad this got resolved.

Work up the guts to approach whoever this is. You sound like a swell guy so it's unlikely whoever it is will just break and run. The apparent worst that can happen is that you get turned down. The real worst is that you just get strung along with yes-but-not-really (been there, had that done to me; likewise by a lungs-and-tongue-lock-up girl). And when worst comes to pass, who gives a damn?! The world didn't end; there're still other likable people out there. Pick yourself up and try again.
