SHADOW GENUS BESTIARY:

Cold Shadow: Deadly and powerful, created by a creature of the Iceball genus.

Differential Shadow: Similar to the above, however, are created by those of the Ochita genus and are easily beaten by Reverse Psychology.

Split Personalities: Existing in real life, makes one go mental.

So, in other words, the shadows Ochita and Dariel are running into are reflections of parts of themselves, created my the mindscrew-reality they're skimming through now. Arek's Xerxes is a stable derivative of Arek's own self, thus being able to show up in the Elemental Plane of Cheap Psychology. Iceball's shadows are real, physical critters in their own right, shadow-beings. Or if you look'em up, Shadow People. Incidentally, the last bunch is almost as fun to use as a character as a 'nid.

Actually, I did. Except that "dead" isn't synonymous with "isn't in the game anymore" imho.
