Diagnosing a baby?
« on: January 24, 2011, 01:29:11 am »

So one of my dwarves ran into the danger room to retrieve a dead cat...while carrying a baby. While the mother got a severely smashed index finger that required surgery and sutures etc., the baby was not so well off, and has a rather long list of red body parts. Unfortunately, even when the mother was unconscious in the hospital ("Oh, such a dreadful pain in my finger!"), before the baby crawled off to party, the doctor didn't bother to diagnose the baby or anything.

So I'm curious - if the mother has been treated, but the baby still requires diagnosis, is there any way to get the doctor to look at the little guy?

I think they need to grow to dwarven children first.

Almost as hardcore as Russian society. Almost.

Nice. You should dress up all dwarves like spartans, and leave dwarven children out to survive on their own. That would be epic. Then start a war with the elves to signify the persians.

Having horribly mangled babies is always amusing, but mine seem all to die of infection sooner or later. Damn.

So, basically you just said have naked dwarfs wearing bronze helmets and shields, neglecting children as they can't do anything, and killing elves. Thats like 90% of every fort made.

On Topic. How long ago did she give birth? If it's not that long ago, the death of the child might be cancelled out by the happiness of having a baby.

The baby was 2 months old at the time of the injury, but succumbed to infection at 4 months. The mother was sad for a while, but then she admired a fine container, and decided life wasn't so bad after all.

Except when the actual keg is only half full. Then there's a tantrum spiral to see who gets the rest.
