fortunatley not, but its not so simple...

 you start with a balance of 350. for each kill, mission success and medal this is increased by a small percentage for your next mission, and never decreases despite failure, green on green or any other snafu incident.

getting promoted up the ranks gives a bigger jump. kindly the game refunds you if a ship is wasted. the only problem is that the ships availiable to choose from are semi random, with the better ones unlocked by rank. as i am still at lieutenant, i only have access to basic models yet. the upside is as a lieutenant, the missions are relativley simple. hopefully if i dont die on the next mission, i might get promoted, get a few more and better ships to use, and some more dangerous missions. not that committing a horrible war crme wasnt fun mind you.

By the way, what's the difference between making it home and ejecting to safety? You say you get reimbursed for destroyed ships, right?

making it home is surviving to the end, or hyperspacing away... either way you get to keep your ship. this is more relevant if you have a rare ship...

Can we ban ejection? I mean, only the best pilots should fight, and what better way to select the best than natural selection?

I say nobody gets to eject except the rare and endangered MonkeyHead as our host.

afraid my only control over that would be my own craft - the rest are autonomous. i could ban myself from ejecting...

as requested - its armed to the teeth for a ship of its size, but has no engines other than the minimum, no sensors other than some to work out where it is, and minimal armor. suits you sir! you might up with less next mission...
