So, I REALLY like this game.

Its an open ended turn based space combat game, featuring squad/fleet combat. You start as a lowly grunt in charge of a small number of low powered ships, and work your way up to stomping your enemies with large numbers of basass craft... also: PERMADEATH, making ejecting a very attractive option.

So we are now up and running. If you want to join in the spaced based carnage, post here with your name and preferred ship type and i will add you to the roster. Warning - you will die a violent death in the void.

I swear, I've seen this before, a long time ago. Looks really interesting.

sweet... chances are i might only have 3 or 4 ships availiable for the first couple of missions until we have earned some credits anyway... ill start putting the wheels in motion then while waiting for more conscripts... of course, i am going to need PLENTY of pilots so more people will always be welcome...

Ok, so here goes.

Priority goes in order of sign up. So I am initial squad commander (until my inevitable fiery death). Squad call sign in "Bay12"... so Bay12 #1 is Boski, and so on. Upon death, everyone will move up a spot. Should I die, the next in line becomes squad commander and will be in charge of most decisions, other than combat which I will play though and report on.

Your role will be to indicate ship choice which i will try my best to meet depending on availiable cash and ships. I will give you as much relevant info (in the form of a briefing i suppose) to allow you to make sensible choices. The AI flies all ships other than the comanders, but I will have some basic choices at my disposal which I am willing to take advice upon.

We will be playing my vanilla unmodified version of the game for balance reasons. We will be playing as the "Ryckurn" race for no other reason than they are the default.

Starting new game as Lieutenant Monkeyhead...

So, mission 1...

As a new squad we will be given lots of boring basic duties until we get less green. So we start with...

Escort duty. Great. lets all fly around watching transports getting destroyed. Reccomend fighter bias and at least a scout or 2.

Heres the ships in hangar we can choose from (top left to bottom right...)...

Super drone. decent missile load (heavy unguided ones) but otherwise a waste of time. (49 cr)
Bug. Expendible fighter. (49 cr)
Lynx. Expendible fighter. (58 cr)
Swift. Expendible fighter. (62 cr)
Ghost. Basic stealth bomber. (74 cr)
x2 Puma. Decent gunship. (89 cr)
Watcher. Basic scout (93 cr)
x3 Vampire. Decent stealth bomber. (100 cr)
Falcon. Good gunship (115 cr)
Dread. Decent stealth fighter. (115 cr)
Super watcher. Great scout. (116 cr)
Hornet. Heavily armed but vulnerable fighter. (117 cr)

I am taking the dread, leaving 235 to spend with current order of priority being Boski, GlyphGryph, EuchreJack and then whoever wants in next.

Give me whatever "Expendable" craft you can afford.  Probably the "Bug", but I'm willing to suffer an upgrade if a few credits are left after my collegues pick their ships.

Indeed it does!  :D

But, I understand if you must give me a ship with shields, so I can draw enemy fire for more than a few seconds...

Tis a shame all ships come with escape pods huh?
