Need a project to focus on.

Can someone give me an idea, a project that a casual player to do. Can someone please help me out and give me a simple project to play around with.  ???

When i doubt, build defensively. I never hurts to have too many traps.
Perhaps build a network of archer towers linked underground.

Yeah, but Goblins never seige me and the worse I have to put up with is Kobold thieves. I once almost started a war with the Elves just because I was bored. Turned out that they left before I could set a military.

Try fortress defense mod if you dont have any megaprojects in mind and just want to KILL MURDER STOMP.

A pyramid would be a nice new player project.

Hmmm. Maybe. I tried a wooden tower in the last half hour. Couldn't build corner walls on the second story though.

A well known issue because constructions cannot be built diagonally. You need to build the corners first.

Build an aboveground castle, that's always cool to look at. You'll get a bunch of legendary masons if you make it out of blocks too.

Dig out or build a pyramid.  You won't run into the problem of corner walls not being built because you can always build from the outside.  If you dig it out you have to also channel out the floors, which is good practice for bigger projects.  Then you can try to fill it with water, or if you're feeling really crazy, magma.

You could try building a dwarven computer capable of giving the (first possible) brute-force solution to the n-queens problem, for n=6,7,8

I AM A CASUAL PLAYER. I AM NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO BUILD A COMPUTER!!!
I need something that can be built with less than 50 immigrants so I'm occupied long enough to reach a decent sized fort.

Waterworks.  Build a plumbing system for your fort that includes waterfalls in key areas, such as the dining hall, a good well for your hospital, and general pump mayhem.  This is best done with 1-2 levels separating each fort piece.  As in, your production room floor, two z-levels of waterways, then your sleeping quarters, then two more waterway levels, etc.

Dwarf Points if you do it with magma.

Build a decent replica of the temple of Solomon, complete with wooden panelling! I did it a my first kilo-project. I'm going to run off now and build a pyramid.

Build an obelisk of Gold or Platinum blocks that reaches into the sky, and either have a pump system to have a nice waterfall water-feature, or maybe have a gold-or-platinum statue garden at the top.
