Continuous "Hunt for Small Animal Cancelled"
« on: August 22, 2006, 05:25:00 am »

Well I was playing along on my second fortress, trying to whip up some mechanisms to finish the farming area when I notice the farmer, who I've assigned to mechanics temporarily, keeps generating a report that an attempt to "hunt small animals" failed the path find.

Anyways, it keeps popping up and won't go away. It was in the job list, but it ended up disappearing but it still happens.

It's probably a starving dwarf searching for vermin to eat, who can't reach their destination.  I put the job under my message spammer list.

Another, perhaps related, message spam:

"XY cancels releaing small creature: need empty trap."

I tried to assign something small and tame ( a blue jay?) into a cage, but it didn't work.

It seems anyone can adopt animals from cages owned by others. I had hoped it was restricted, so that the tantruming Recruit (my first failed patient - I locked that part of fortress with a well) would get happier. No luck even with both animals he likes in the cage.

Makes sense. I noticed the dwarf farmer was seemingly stuck at the fishery.  :p
