A Year From Now
« on: January 20, 2011, 01:13:47 pm »

I was thinking of the secret santa thing next year it it makes me think: Where do you see yourself a year from now?

After a year of working out I'll look pretty damn good, I believe I can get my small business loan paid off before then so I'm making money through my own company by then. I'll have a cell phone again (finally). I'll have fond memories of my skydiving trip by then.

Hmph. My surroundings will change in a negative way. I won't change at all.

I have trouble seeing myself a year from now. Every time I've ever tried to take a stab at it, I've been wrong.

Provided the opportunity pops up, I'll be writing/running that Age of Sail type Pathfinder game with my buddies, unless we're still on the current D&D campaign. I'll have to have started working again by then in order to afford living expenses, though I can't imagine I'd much like the job since no good work is hiring in my area. I'll hopefully still be able to take college courses full-time, provided my schedule permits. If the money is there, I'll still be living at the same apartment complex, but I'll have a decent collection of refurbished/garbage-picked furniture by then, instead of a mostly bare house. My car will be about 1/3 paid off, though there's a chance I'll have sold it to my brother; he needs a car worse than I right now, and I'm not sure I can keep affording this.

...You know, thinking about this is making me tremendously depressed. I think I'm going to stop.

I guess I'll have a job and be looking for a career. Possibly slightly taller. Maybe stronger.

Yet another year of the same unless my college financial aid dries up for some reason.

College, studying something interesting and fun.
Having a small group of friends, maybe finding a D&D group and picking up some hobby (big cities provide opportunities).

I just hope by then life won't seem so utterly pointless.

Probably continuing to bitch people out for using bad mathematics to uphold their arguments.  Hopefully, I'll be able to speak passably good German, Russian, and French by then.

Maybe I'll have written a couple more short stories... frankly, I have no idea what's going to happen, other than what will likely feel like an unbearably large amount of math.

Scooping out Bisquick direct from the box, overjoyed at having found it in such a heavily irradiated area, knowing that I'll have to bring it home to the colony. There's something to be said for mutual defense, even if we seldom get armed scavengers this far north.

A year from now, I'll probably be pretty much the same but in a different grade and with much more worries about my education.

Hopefully though, by then I'll have accomplished something, become more mature, and developed my skill set more.

Dead, since the world will end.

"The world will end" does not imply "everything on it one year prior will die".  I think Norse mythology works that way, or something like that.  The Mayapocalypse may be similar.  I'm no mythology expert, so add salt to taste.

I'll be in Iraq. I might be dead or broken. Hopefully, I'll have done some work on writing and improving myself.

I'll likely be obsessing over the fact that Valentine's day is coming up and I don't have a date.
