Today, I was looking at a list of mathematical symbols, and I came across ∝, the symbol for carp.

Have you ever wondered why it was carp, instead of something else? I had never really thought about it, but I was looking at the definition of the symbol for something completely unrelated, and discovered that alpha represents proportionality and KARP REDUCTION.

BRILLIANT! Toady really does think of everything.

Nah the carp do the math and the frogs build then the mechasuits for the carp.

It's not the same symbol.  Carp are represented by alpha.  The mathematical symbol here bears a resemblance to alpha, but it is a different symbol.

It's not specifically carp, anyway.  Other fish besides carp are represented by alpha.
