Extermination?
« on: January 20, 2011, 03:01:37 am »

(Hopefully) simple question - is it possible to, in a Fortress Mode game, completely exterminate another civilization e.g. kill every single goblin in, say, The Ruthlessness of Miseries?

Try it. For science.

Use magma if you want to do it for dorf science.

No, I don't care how you use it. It just needs to be used.

It's said that the amount of goblins from a civ is limited, and you can eventually drain it out via sieges. After that, the goblin civs is considered destroyed. However I've never reached that point myself so cant confirm.

Technically magma has already been used in the forging of the weapon I intend to do this with. I'm going to obliterate an entire goblin civ with one axe, even if I have to go into adventure mode and find it in the ruins of my fort to do so.

I think the bulk of siegers are randomly generated, the only "real" ones being Generals/Kings/etc..

Randomly generated, but taken from a civ's population pool nonetheless.

okay, the way invasion's work in DF is simple.

First! SEND IN THE SCOUTING FORCE TO THE GOBLIN CITY! (embark on a goblin city)
Your 7 dwarves will be the scouting party and die HEROICLY

Now, reclaim fortress, it counts the entire place and everything in it as being owned by your dwarves so you'll get a huge, wealthy, skilled army. HAVE AT IT!

Rinse and repeat to exterminate every goblin hold in a civilization, then use the last place (if suitable) to build up a proper fortress and take the remaining sieges over and over again until their population finally curls up and dies =D
