Any way to get rid of rotten food dropped by soldiers?

I read it was a bug, any ways to get rid of it?

Apart from the obvious red fiery solution to anything, and perhaps using the force of water to push it into an atomsmasher, nope. You'll just have to wait until it has completely rotten away.

To prevent it, set your squads to carry no food

Prevent the bug from happening by disabling woodcutting, mining and hunting for all soldiers. And make enough backpacks. Sometimes they will bug out anyway tho, in which case you should apply magma (to the soldier).
