Based on Steam user data, the peak activity period is at approximately 11:30 GMT. As such, I propose a system in which 11:30 GMT is known as Peak, with 23:30 GMT being known as Min. This system will allow both timekeeping and an easy way of figuring out the approximate direction of the derivative of the people online at any given time. Useful information when determining when to post information to allow for maximum number of viewers. Instead of 'am' and 'pm,' both outdated terms, time will be broken up into pm and mp, for peak to min, and min to peak, respectively.

You know, Toady already invented a tempature scale for DF, so I see no reason why we shouldn't ask him to create a time scale as well. Then we can use that and confuse everyone else on the internet.

DF already uses discrete time units.  They just don't have an official name.  I call them frames or ticks.

Hehe. The way to do that would be to measure it from something that you know is going to happen at a precise moment in the future. That way all time is basically a countdown to that moment. What happens after that moment though? In order for that problem not to crop up, the event must be unattainable, which means it will be unmeasurable, which means that you can't plan backwards from it.

EDIT: So basically, the only way to do that would be to plan your own death for that exact time.

While frames remains the common name outside of the scientific community, for those with degrees, 'Urists' is the propper term.
