Ah, bureaucracy. Such a beautiful thing when it overrides common sense.

How will they know if the cat is voting guilty or not guilty, though?

WHAT!
This is awesome, soon juries will have equal parts cat, dogs and humans.

the jury commissioner was unmoved and denied the request.

Sounds like somebody's not qualified for their job.

Also, the cat is probably under the age of majority, so no self-respecting bureaucrat would have let that slip anyway.  Minors can't serve as jurors.  Them's the rules.

No world without its feline rules.

I can't remember who's signature that was, again. But it applies.
Very well.

It is a conspiracy. Secretly cats are not only ruling the United States of America, but every other country in the world.
In fact, all politicians are robots controlled by cats. They decided to hide no more, and they are now putting cats into public offices. The world is in their paws! Run, RUN!

Edit: He- I knew it!
My cat is behind it all. If you recognize him, make sure to use a shotgun or similarly appropriate firearm to dispose of him.
He's mostly black, with all kinds of other colors 'highlighting' his fur. He has an evil glare in his eyes.

Sounds like the rest of the US should list their pets on the next census for even more hilariousness.

I want to see the Defendant get the case thrown out because they're being retarded with the jury.

It's just a symptom of rubber-stamping. I'm sure someone looked at their appeal for removal from the jury pool, saw a Latino name and just went "DENIED" without reading the content. And now it's a news story.

As a point of law I'm not sure you can call for a mistrial due to mistakes in the bureaucracy.

That was Deathworks.

Seriously, you've got to question a legal system that would allow something like this.
Even though the cats might have more sense then some juries.
