So I queued up a pair of steel anvils through the manager interface. A little later I noticed one had been completed. I then tried to build a new forge, and the only anvil available was golden, not steel. Checking the manager confirmed the problem, as my order for steel anvils read as 1/2 being complete.

I just got a copper anvil...queued up iron one nets me one out of fairly useless (and much more abundant) metal.

Are these other anvils actually useless? As I haven't gotten any unusual anvils thus far, I'd like to know. If I can make one from lead, and it works as well as an iron one...

Well I'm sure a gold anvil would fetch a pretty penny if you can't use it.

A finely-crafted golden anvil. Basic value: 9000

Golden and platinum anvils seem to work just fine for blacksmithing though.
