I look forward to a new way for my fortress to fail. Game is still too easy, I want a chance to fail with each passing day year, and this is one straw closer to breaking the camels back.

Imagine, no extra effort, we can just let cats starve!

Silly, his corpse was adopted by the berserking cat.

I hope this solves the crazy oversupply of food.  Truthfully, dwarves would need to eat about 5-10x what they do now for food to even become an issue.

Also, animal feed implies livestock farms maybe?  I was always irritated by the herd of cattle in the dining room.

I like the idea. I just wonder if it will apply to all animals, or that you only need to feed certain bigger livestock.
It would be a fun new challenge to have to feed all your dwarves' precious pets to keep them from dying.
I'm a bit worried about the amount of jobs it's going to generate though.
I'd prefer unrestrained animals finding their own way to some feeding area or building, over having each animal generate a bring food job.

Ofcourse, as pointed out, cats should be able to feed themselves on vermin.

I believe Toady has implemented a pasture type area where, I assume, ruminants can chew.

I really want "sheep herder" as a dwarf title. They can sleep in the pasture in the rain and never come back to the fortress. Damn undwarvenly animal lovers. SHUUUUUUUUN!

Too bad there probably won't be a similar tag for things like tame tigers and war bears.

I would like one day to create a massive pit full of starving lions which devour anything I throw in, whether it be a cat, a goblin, or a noble.

Or deny food to the tame alligators that lounge about the dining hall and then revel in the ensuing mass hunting of dwarves.

Where does it say animal feed?  I didn't see it on the dev page.  Sorry but I'm new and interested in keeping up with DF releases.
