Does this thread have a point beyond widespread ego stroking?

Ego?

...

How the hell does that even work on the internet.

There is no person to say it too, only a collection of ideas and text that becomes one figure.

And it's an affirmation of the impact someone's made on the bay12 community, I think you're going down a bad train of thought here :|

It makes a good deal of sense, really. Our ego is essentially the collection of beliefs, values, memories, etc. that composes the "us" that we present to the world. If we are well known, we feel good, because it makes our ego appear to be of (relatively) greater import. A thread like this will consistently reaffirm our status in the community as a well-known figure, while also serving to inform newer/less active members of their relative prominence within the community, allowing them to gauge how important their ego (self) is within the context of the B12 forums.

So yes, it is entirely about ego stroking.  :P

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

This board, which is probably why I've never seen you before; 3/10, although I'd guess your true rating to be somewhere aorund 8/10.
