Changing Window/Font Size
« on: January 15, 2011, 09:27:07 pm »

I just started playing again, having taken some time off since .31.12 or so.

I'm running into issues with changing the font size or window size or something. Previously when I changed to the 800x600 font, I would have a nice large window in windowed mode. Now all that changes is the width of the window, but the height stays about the same. If I do something like:

[WINDOWEDX:80]
[WINDOWEDY:80]
[FONT:curses_800x600.png]
I'm left with lots of empty space at the bottom of the window.

Does anyone know how, or if, I can fix this?

Similar question from me then...

How can I force DF to open at a particular X and Y size? Everytime I play with those figures and save, nothing happens, and my DF window is still a few pixels wider than my native res (1280x800 on a lappy)

You can resize the window with the mouse now

Interesting.

Unfortunately that isn't helping me. I can resize the window, but the font size doesn't scale up with a larger window. So I can get a large window, but then the actual playing window is much smaller and stuck near the top. I was able to change the size a few versions ago but I was hoping to play the latest and greatest. Oh well.

On my laptop, with the same 1280x800 resolution, I change the font used for windowed mode to this, in init.txt:

[WINDOWEDX:80]
[WINDOWEDY:25]
[FONT:curses_800x600.png]

Then I just drag the window out to the size I require, or press F11 to go fullscreen

Oh wait.. It is normal, for there to be a lot of black space in the games' start menu.
Once you start / load a fortress though, it will use all the available space.

You are the best. And correct. This totally worked for me. Thanks!
