Work together?  :) I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I sincerely wish I could join this. Like so, so badly. I have been beholden to the books of the sadly deceased Mr. Jordan for the better part of my lifetime. Bloody university and its bloody work... but eh, just posting for now to watch. If I end up with free time soon and you're still looking I might try and join, but I don't consider it likely. -_-

Also:

Quote
In the meantime, a seemingly homeless person spots the two people hanging out at the waygate. Demonicon notices this, exclaims "Darkfriend!" and pulls out his bow. Before anyone can act, he has shot an arrow into the hobo's neck. The man collapses instantly, bleeding from his wound.

Read this, like, 10 minutes ago. Still chuckling. XD

So are we game again for Saturday, approximately same time? I should be able to make that, although I'd prefer if we started a bit earlier.

Wow this actually sounds like I'm not entirely improving everything!

Huh? ???

Still i got some good stuff to run with.  Including like 5 potential reoccurring NPCs.  Hilariously no one has made any real money.  Maybe I'll add some loot goods to the trolloc camp or something, if I remember, if you guys arn't forced to abandon the little girl. :P Actually even if you are forced to heal I can extend this, but you probably will find things just as difficult. :)

Even assuming we can somehow find our way into the trolloc's den again, I have 3 HP left and 10 HP max. I don't think I'd be able to kill both trollocs even at full health, and with Spoon and Monk aiding me... Uhh. I'm not sure if Monk even have any spells he can use offensively, and Spoon would be better off staying back and shooting with his bow.

And not to mention, I won't get full health just like that. Monk can heal one of my hit points to subdual damage, if he manages to run out the "right" exit and make peace with both me and spoon, but what use is that when that only means I can heal two of 'em pr. day. Maybe I could try and roll a Hardiness check to give me 8 hours worth of rest, but that would only net me like 1 or 2 HP, still well within Trolloc one-shot territory.

No, I think we're going to have to try and trick the trollocs rather than just pummel them to death like we(I)'ve been doing all along.

EDIT: Looking through Monk's spell list, I've got just the plan... Assuming of course we can get to a point where we can work together. ;D

Improving as in improvisation.

As far a healing goes, the Heal weave converts damage to Subdual damage, and the Renew weave temporarily suspends subdual damage, at the cost of additional subdual damage once the weave ends. In effect, by using both of those weaves I can get a character through a combat situation before we have to hole up for a while. Or more specifically, what I'll do is burn one of my lvl1 weave slots to cast Heal (1d8+1 points converted) and then cast lvl0 Renew (suspended for 10min, which should be more than enough to get through the combat.) Even more specifically, that is what I'll do once I know whether to help the Aiel warrior, who's people just conquered their way across the Westlands, or Demonicon, whom I've just observed shoot a guy on suspicion of being a Darkfriend, take off before the guards arrive to corroborate his story, and is now in the Trolloc infested sewer despite having no obvious reason to be here (although I do owe him a favor). :D

Bit of a facepalm moment for me when I realized that Harden Air only has one affinity related to it- Air. Which means that I can cast it at higher level than normal (use my lvl1 slot for a lvl2 casting, for instance). Which means that overchanneling isn't nearly as impossible as I had thought- now it is merely unlikely. I certainly hope your plan is better than mine, since mine involves significant amounts of fire that likely pose more risk to the hostage than the Trollocs.

This weekend isn't good for me (Super Bowl Shenanigans) so you may have to NPC me. My priorities in order are 1. Unite the Party  2. Save hostage  3. Not die. My schedule is fairly erratic, so I'll post when I'm free next week on Friday.

So a Cairhienen, an Aiel, and a Saldean walk into a sewer...

Yeah, mine doesn't revolve nearly as much around fire as it does water, which might be just as big of a challenge. I was hoping since it is a sewer we'd be able to find a pool nearby a corner or somesuch. Then I could lure the trollocs (with my 40 ft vs. their 30 ft movement speed) around a corner and you could cast harden air to form a tripwire-esque obstacle after I have passed the corner, making the trollocs fall and drop into the pool, rendering them harmless. If worse comes to worse, this plan is probably still doable without water, although it would only grant a short advantage while the trolloc(s) are on the ground.

Even better, a lvl1 Harden Air spell can seal a doorway (or like sized opening). I can cast that as a lvl0 spell- with luck we can trap the trollocs somewhere.

And hey, a prone trolloc provokes an AoO when it stands up- could be enough to even the odds.

2. ? ? ?
3. Profit!

At some point I'm totally putting a gleeman in a Trolloc suit in just so it can mysteriously convince spoon to do weird stuff.  :)

Not too much.  Spoon and Miggy make peace.  Spoon meets the noble.  Spoon found a dirty pig in the sewer and is being attacked by rats.  Monk in auto mode found the sewer waygate and is writing up notes about it.  Noone has saved the child. Poor poor child... :P

Yeah, nothing really happened.

I had hoped that we would get lucky, and Anya would run out of the sewer the way me and Spoon were, thereby assembling the group as well as providing a mission and a goal. Alas, Anya stumbled into a waygate and went home, while me and Spoon split on not-enemy terms. Jharic is convinced Spoon isn't the guy who lead the trollocs (because, come on, how would that guy lead anything), but he still has no clue what his actual agenda is. He's curious though, and he'll hang around the outskirts of Cairhien in case he spots more trollocs or the like. Although right now he's simply resting at his camp with the supplies he hunted for earlier, recuperating his lost HP.

I guess I'll do another write-up of the entire event, although I probably should have copy-pasted the conversation Jharic and Spoon had...

EDIT: Ooh, you did miss out on something! Me and Spoon both netted ourselves 50 hard-earned exp for roleplaying. Jharic is now all the wya up at 157, nearly 1/5th of the way to his first level-up :P

SUMMARY: As to where the group is at...

When we left, Anya was running through the sewers, having just narrowly dodged a pair of trollocs. Her measly 4 HP would never be able to stand up to a real trolloc, so she's making her way through the dark and stinking sewers, not sure whether or not she dares light an orb or not. After all, it was the orb of light that made the trollocs spot her last time. But without the orb, would it have been any different, and would she have spotted the trollocs then?

Jharic and Demonicon are outside of a sewer entrance away from the city. A trolloc is dead on the ground and Jharic has a large gash across his back.

Jharic demands explanations from Demonicon. Twice now, Jharic has stumbled into Demonicon seemingly at random, and both encounters have involved trollocs in one shape or the other. Is demonicon a darkfriend, perhaps a leader of some sorts of the trollocs?

Demonicon attempts to make Jharic believe that it is because the trollocs hunt him. The trolloc Jharic had just now slain was, in fact, running away from the brave Demonicon, hunter of trollocs.

Jharic buys none of it. He has seen Demonicon (try to) fight, and he would have no chance against a child, let alone a trolloc.

The discussion goes back and forth. Demonicon doesn't manage to convince Jharic of his fighting prowess or intentions at all, but Jharic does realize that if Demonicon is too short and fat to pose a threat to the trollocs, he would not be able to pose a threat to anyone else either. Having the short little Treekiller lead the trollocs? Just as unlikely as him hunting them.

Jharic gives the picture of a girl to demonicon, and urges him to take it to whichever people guard Cairhien. If the trollocs were after someone, it's worth investigating. But obviously, this should be done by people competent. Demonicon is not likely to find any such people in Cairhien, Cairhien being Cairhien after all, but he should at least be able to find people more competent than himself. hopefully. Jharic urges Demonicon to not pursue the girl himself, as he'd just end up in a cooking pot.

With that, the two part. Jharic returns to the camp he has made himself in the wilderness outside of Cairhien. There he recovers his wound while living of the stored wild he hunted a few days prior. Demonicon sets fire to a twig and heads back into the city...

... Meanwhile Anya has dared to light a slight light in the sewers, so she can at least see any dangers she might run into. Instead she baffles as she passes a wall that does not fit into the rest of the sewer at all. The masonry is different, the stone appearing much, much older than the rest of the sewerworks. And on the surface of the stone is an intricate pattern of leaves, looking as if they have been gently disturbed by a cool breeze...

Demonicon heads up into the city and appears, seemingly at random, in front of a nobleman's mansion. For no reason known to him, he says aloud, to no one in particular, "I need to speak with the noble. I know where his daughter is.". The guard that is right in front of him appears to take this as a sign of conversation, and demands explanation. Demonicon shows him the picture he had been given by Jharic, and the guard agrees that it is the noble's daughter. Demonicon is lead into the mansion.

Inside he approaches the nobleman, now knowing that the girl on the picture is indeed the nobleman's daughter (such luck!), and requests treasure in return for saving the girl. The nobleman says that this is indeed a fortunate turn of events, that he loves his daughter much, and that Demonicon would be rewarded if he returns the poor girl to the nobleman. Demonicon senses no lies. Demonicon insults the nobleman, then walks off.

... Anya has found her way out of the sewer now, and returns to her lodgings. She hastily scribbles down notes of everything that has happened so far today...

Demonicon gathers his donkeys and heads into the sewers, assuming that if the picture of the girl was found on a trolloc in the sewers, naturally the girl must be in the sewers as well. He finds a dirty pig walking around in a lovely pile of filth, and he claims it as his own. He proceeds to explore the sewers, but encounters a large swarm of rats. He runs as fast as him and his small animal collective can, and finds an exit. He then goes back in to explore even more, and finds the rats again. Once again, he tucks his tail between his legs...

And thus we did.  Lessons learned.  If Spoon makes more reasonable bluffs he will be far more likely to succeed! :)

A bit of a late summary this time, although due to the amount of stuff that actually happened and IRL schedule I didn't really feel like making much of a write-up.

Demonicon faces the rats in the sewer and fights them. There are 8 of them in total. A few he manages to shoot from afar as they're charging towards him, but over half of the pack reaches him in melee. He draws his rapier and fights them fiercely, taking several scrapes and scratches as his slim sword strikes each rat in turn. Eventually he manages to defeat the pack, although without much to show for it. He has sustained a good few small wounds, adding up to a total of somewhat severe damage, and the rat corpses are seemingly useless. He continues through the sewers.

At last, he finds what he was looking for. He spots a cookfire with a small girl bound, and a trolloc guarding her. He stops for a moment to ponder his options. He is obviously outmatched by the trollocs, not only being a weak and frail fighter, but also being hurt from the fight earlier. A single hit from the trolloc would almost undoubtedly leave him dead.

With that in mind, he concocts an ingeneous plan, using the entirety of his intellect. He steps out of the shadows, with his donkeys and pig in tow, and proclaims loudly to the trolloc: "I am a Myrddral, you must obey me!".

The trolloc looks towards where the sound has come. He sees a short and fat man, definitely not missing eyes like a myrddral, and in a traveler's outfit, leading two packed donkeys and a dirty pig. Surprisingly it doesn't buy it...
