the caravan does, like clockwork. but no liason. is this a bug or am i missing something?

I believe that, once the liaison dies, you'll never get a replacement. I certainly haven't after my liaison got ambushed by a bunch of goblins.

Yeah, my dwarven liason died in my first year, so I've been boned ever since in terms of trading. Oh well.

he never showed up. so unless he died "off the map" i don't think thats it. he isnt in the long list of deceased dwarves, werewolves, kobolds, and rehesus macaques

What version are you playing?

Is this your first game in the world?  The liaison never comes back once dead.

it is the version just before this one, can't recall the long string of numbers (sorry). it is my first game in a new world, a pocket world too if that helps. should i just update?

It'd be nice if we were assigned a new liaison perhaps a couple years after the previous one dies.

Ive had this same problem as well.

Not recently but it has happened.

The caravan will show up, but no liaison comes.

I'm not sure if it was the newest version or not.

One liaison per country, never replaced?  I'm assuming that's on the "to-be-fixed" list?  Or is it by design (the latter would surprise me)?

Liaison succession is in the same category of problem as leader succession.  It's now handled in world generation (not that liaisons are used there), and it'll be handled around release 2 of the army arc for regular play.

ah i remember, it was the version that religions and relationships got added! so mr toady, should i just update or is there a simple fix?

Is a new liaison assigned when we reclaim the fort?  What about when we build a new one somewhere else?

If losing a liaison in one fort dooms every fort for that civ, that kinda sucks.
